Some folks need food. Others a beer.
Still others need to chase their golf with a bit of sugar to appease that sweet tooth. Hey, it was earned by burning those calories over the course of 18 holes, right?
Up and down the Grand Strand golfing mecca, a few dessert spots have caught our eyes time and again. They produce results, even and their own spin on the task at hand.
THE TRESTLE
Anyone who has lived in the Myrtle Beach area long enough has been to a gathering where someone showed up with a relatively plain white box with black Trestle logo smack dab in the center. There’s a pretty good reason for that. The place has been supporting the dental industry forever. From lemon bars to Chinese biscuits to the cookie cake, it’s hard to find something you won’t like here.

CROISSANTS
What started as a small location over a quarter century ago has become popular enough to warrant a second location at 80th and Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach and a massive list of satisfied wedding cake business. But it doesn’t have to be that serious for you to stop in and see what this crew does on the daily. And, by that, we mean to spoil to sweet tooth.(pictured right)

KILWIN’S ICE CREAM
Yes, Kilwin’s is a franchised joint that has treated customers in many different locales. But the owners here are tried and true adopted locals who just so happen to have bought into the stuff in the case and now know how to make it themselves. We’ve found major success with the kids’ favorite Blue Moon ice cream, the ultra-dense fudge bars (they might as well be bricks) and the everything dipped pretzels.

PAWLEYS ISLAND BAKERY
This place moonlights as a restaurant – serving up lunch and breakfast wraps and sandwiches. They’re just the gateway for why you’re really here, though. The endless supply of cookies, cupcakes (top photo), bars and cakes are the perfect excuse to grab some for now and later. They keep a steady diet of the normal fare, and then occasionally stretch their legs – both by request and their own whimsy.

MELT
Opened in 2017, Melt is the type of ice cream shop that falls into the category of eye of the beholder. Some see it as an old-fashioned joint, known for rich vanillas and chocolates that you purchase from an old-time counter. Others see it as delectable joint known for trying out new flavors. So far, we’ve only been able to give it rave reviews from both, as this prime location on the north Strand continues to grow its clientele.
