Myrtle Beach International Wins Best Small Airport, Making Golf Trips Even Easier

Myrtle Beach, the Golf Capital of the World, is giving players another reason to visit the game’s most popular destination. Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) has been voted as the “Best Small Airport in America” as part of the 2024 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

MYR emerged from a field of 20 airports nominated by a panel of experts appointed by USA Today and 10Best, marking the second time in the last four years it has won the award.

Part of the reason MYR was named America’s best small airport is the scale of its offerings. The airport, which is currently undergoing a $95 million expansion that will add six gates, is home to more than 50 nonstop flights, including direct access from New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Detroit (complete list of nonstop flights).

MYR is served by Allegiant, American, Avelo, Delta, Frontier, Porter, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country and United.

Many of the area’s nonstop flights cater to players, with schedules that allow for arrival and departure day rounds of golf, maximizing the enjoyment of a Myrtle Beach golf trip.

“We are thrilled to receive this honor from the community,” said Judi Olmstead, Director of Airports. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support of our passengers. We are grateful to everyone who voted and those who continue to choose MYR for their travel needs.”

At the heart of Myrtle Beach’s popularity as a golf destination is the quality and quantity of the area’s course offerings. As home to layouts like TPC Myrtle Beach, Grande Dunes and Pawleys Plantation, among others, the Grand Strand offers the opportunity to play some of the nation’s premier public courses while also delivering the value the area has long been renowned for.
