The course was in perfect condition and the staff and starter were great. The layout of the course is its strength. Every hole is unique and memorable and not only challenging for a low handicapper, but very playable for the average player from the forward tees. Can’t believe I’d never played here before. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this course.

Course was in great shape and was a nice track. The bag guys could have been a lot nicer; not even a “Good Morning” or “Welcome to Farmstead”

It was our groups 25th annual trip to the Myrtle Beach area and we booked the East Coast 4 package which included a $100 gift card to be uses for food/beverage or in the pro shop.This was our groups 4th time playing the course and as we remembered, it was in terrific shape. The one black mark for the course...They would not accept the gift card in the grill/lounge though they are a member of the East Coast 4 package group.

Course in good condition considering many courses in Brunswick county have issues with greens and rest of course. Bring balls as plenty of places to loose them.

Haven't played here in several years. Got us on real quick ahead of a big group. Nice people, course in good shape , some winter burn on the greens but pin placements took them out of play

Had a nice time playing here. Greens great shape, but hard to read. Fairways nicely overseeded for winter, and the traps actually had sand in them. I have always felt this is the better course then the sister course at Meadowlands. Only thing I really don't care for is the par 6 finishing hole. Overall a good experience, and would play again.

Course was in good shape and fun to play. Pro shop reception was terrible. Took our money and barely said a word. Many area courses encourage players. Not Farmstead.

We played on a very windy day, but the course is in great shape. No complaints at all. Staff was friendly and got us out on time.

I booked a tee time as a single this morning. I arrived 30 minutes early and went to the practice green. I was to be paired up with a twosome at 1:00. The course was very busy so I went with the expectation of playing a 5 hour round. While I was waiting the starter sent out 2 twosomes and a threesome. At 1:00 the twosome I was to play with had paid but they were no where to be found. At 1:05, after my tee time, the starter sent out a threesome. There is no excuse for the starter to make me wait 30 minutes and he made me wait after my tee time passed. He could have put me with at least 3 different groups. This is not the way to treat customers. You never know who that customer might be and what they may have to offer you. I recently relocated to North Myrtle Beach. I could have become a regular here but I won't return. There are plenty of other great courses to play on the Grand Strand. I can't tolerate bad customer service.

By far the gem of the trip. Saw a lot of good reviews but when we got there it really exceeded my expectations. The greens were the best that we played all week 9.5 out of 10. Tee boxes 9.0 out of 10. The only thing I can really pick at were that the fairways were a little thin in some spots but that is really nitpicking 8.0 out of 10. Pro shop staff was excellent. Grill was very helpful. Outside staff was good. Overall a must play right now.

Pretty open off the tee. When the wind kicks def makes a few holes real long.

Very rude pro shop manager who would not honour $45 late afternoon rates posted on Web site and wanted $79 and finally settled for $55. To add insult to injury, the course was grossly overbooked with tee times running over an hour late, which he failed to tell us.

Good quality course but very busy was a slow round.

The fairways are wide and forgiving. Would like to see a course map on the scorecard. There was a ranger but a very slow two couple foursome two groups ahead of us and he didn't seem to push them along.

Incredible conditions, great variety and challenge, top notch facilities, highly memorable. Looking forward to returning in the future.

This is one great course the one could not ask for better fairways and greens. The course has something for every golfer and finishes up with a spectacular par 6 that is bordered by water on the left all the way to the green. Wet, cold day, highs in low 30's made for a round I'll never forget. I thought the entire course was in very good condition and greens rolled fast and smooth. I will be back to play when weather improves. Kudos to Farmstead Staff from pro shop to greenskeepers.

The course was in excellent condition for the time of year. The fairways and greens were in almost perfect condition. The layout makes for a fun experience. For the condition, layout and price Farmstead is one of the best kept secrets on the Strand.

Wet and soggy grass planted to late and trying to catch up, poor groundskeeping. Puddles and wet spot everywhere. Greens need attention but not being worked on. Overpriced compared to others we played with.

Starter seemed like we were bothering him being there. Ranger was rude advising that we needed to hurry up. The group behind us was not waiting and we stayed just behind group ahead having to wait a couple times to tee off. We were paired with a couple and used 3 different tee boxes. Ranger bad.

Pace of play was excellent even with a full tee-sheet.

Just okay ... a lot of the holes were very similar.

Fun and challenging course. #18 the par 6 is fun to play. Only complaint we had was that the course was very crowded and pace of play for the morning round was okay, but the afternoon replay was very slow. no rangers keeping the groups moving and we had to play 18 in the dark. Only other complaint is that they had no snack cart on the course. With it that slammed, seems like they would have had one running with the amount of play they had. The cart guy did apologize after the round about the slow play, but it was a little too late. I would definitely play here again.

This is the second time I played this course and again the rangers were so worried about keeping up with the being on schedule than they were about quality of your experience.

Although this was my least favourite I enjoyed playing the course. We had lengthy waits off the tees on the back nine which took some of the fun out of it. Got a little frustrated with the par 6 18th but all in all it was a good day.

It was raining the day I played so it's hard to judge but considering it's seemed like a very nice course. This is one course I will play when I come come back. I like you could play in the North and South. See you next year I hope.

Love the course layout and the par 6. I did not like starting on the back 9 as it was the best holes on the course. They need to have at least 2 or 3 people in the grill room as we tried to order breakfast 40 minutes before our tee time and were told that they may not be able to get us our food before our tee time because they had 1 person working the whole room.

Our group of 16 enjoyed Farmstead for the 2nd time in 3 years. The greens were not as a good as before but still at a high level. The course conditions are excellent and free of homes.

No. 18 is definitely unique and challenging at @ over 750 yrds & par of 6!

Was late for our tee time and starter was accomodating to get us out to our group on the second hole, then allowed us to play the 2 holes at the end of the round. Was very greatful.

Dislike - slow play. No evidence of ranger/Marshall on the course to move things along.

The overall layout of the course was great. I enjoyed the 18th hole. First par 6 in my 30 years of playing. From the moment we arrived to the time we left the staff was incredible. We felt like members. We will be back next year.

Our favorite course in the Myrtle Beach area. My golf group of 36 want to play this every year. From the bag handlers' to the starter to the Pro Shop personnel, everyone is professional, courteous, and very accommodating to our group. We have no complaints whatsoever regarding this course. A true winner.

I played farmstead before and really enjoy playing there. I love the par 6 even though I shot a 8 . The course was just re-seeded and we had to drive the carts in the rough. Also a very wide course in case your drive goes astray.

I will never play at Farmstead again. There was one to two inches of water standing in all the fairways. They should have never allowed us to go out. They only said it was cart path only, not flooded. I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to consider Farmstead. To bad the layout looked interesting.

Farmstead was by far the best experience I have had in quite some time. From the captivating entrance to the thrilling par-6 finishing hole at the clubhouse, this course has made a lasting impression on me. I will be making this my go-to course so long as the course conditions remain near perfect when I played on 6/16. Thank you for the amazing round on a beautiful Sunday morning.

I have been coming the MB since 1989 and these were the best conditions I have played on, for a $50 green fee, worth more. Sand traps were in poor condition but that was due to the severe storms that hit the area a week earlier. Crews were working on traps. I will play again. One thing that would help is a course lay-out on score card or on tee box signs.

Played course on 5/24/2013. Greens, fairways and tees were really great. This was second time I played this course this year, the first being in the winter. This is a nice course and look forward to playing it again soon.

For my party is was a new course and we enjoyed the experience. The par 6 was a great challenge but we also enjoyed the entire course. we found it a little more forgiving which made it a good finishing round for our trip. They added a third with us who was an employee of the course. He was great and we really enjoyed playing along with him. Very friendly and helping by telling us best locations for shots to avoid hazards. Mike was the best.

This course was very pleasing to the eye. It played fair for an average golfer. The range was nice and the putting green was consistent with the course greens. I will return to this course.

We were connected with a couple from Canada, and they were a joy to be around and play with. We've been to Farmstead maybe 4-5 times, and each time has been good in terms of course conditions, people, staff, service, and most importantly weather! Hope to see you again this Summer.

Course was in better condition when I played here in 2011. Pace of play was very slow

This was my 3rd year coming to Myrtle Beach and to me this is one of the best maintained courses we have played. The layout was good and the overall conditions of the tees, fairways and greens was excellent. We played the course on 4/28 and our group didn't have enough good things to say about the course. The only issue we had all day was with the guy working in the ProShop during the late afternoon. A few of us wanted to replay another 9 holes but were told we couldn't because groups were coming through on both nines. It was 4:30 in the afternoon - we didn't see anyone coming back around to play the front. It seemed like he wasn't interested in stick around so he just wouldn't let us play another nine. In addition as were leaving he made some rude comments to the lady working the grill about our group. Other than this individual we found the rest of the staff to be extremely friendly.

Due to early cool spring the course had not yet greened up; will certainly play here again!

Loved the 17th Played with a lovely couple from West Va and had a great time. We did not have to wait hardly at all.

Needs improvement

I live in MB. My brother, his 2 boys, and several other friends come down for an annual spring golf outing. I personally love the Farmstead golf course. It's one of my favorites here on the Grand Strand. My brother and his two boys enjoyed it very much as well. It's always a pleasure to play Farmstead. Course it very well maintained and playable. Staff is very pleasant. Love your logo...the rooster with multi-colored feathers. Will be back again.

This is a nice course and will play this again. The fairways were, for the most part, excellent. The greens were almost great but not quite. Only problem I had, and this is not the staff's fault, was the twosome I was paired with to make a threesome didn't want anyone to join them. The starter was very nice about it and let me tee off on 10 but ended up a single sandwhiched between 4 somes. In over 50 years of playing I never had this happen before. Made for a long lonely day but it was so nice a course it was a good day.

We played 13 rounds of golf this trip and Farmstead was one of the best. We are 8 to 18 handicappers and this course provided the opportunity for each of us to score well. Wide fairways, reasonably fast greens and a beautiful setting. We felt like we were the only players on a hidden gem of a course in the woods. Highly recommended. P.S. Love the southern cartgirl accents.

(Would like to have known prior to play) that there would be a half hour wait at the turn and would take 3 hours to play the back 9. All courses need to stop overbooking the morning double tees.

We LOVED this course! The greens were slick and rolled true. We loved the challenging layout, the beauty of the course and the friendly staff. Paul the Starter was very knowledgeable, and the bartender poured us a perfect martini afterwards. We will be back next year, and we have been telling anyone who will listen to play Farmstead! PS ... Dennis Rabon tipped us off to this great course.

Farmstead may have been the nicest course we played during our stay; however, the experience just wasn't as good as River Hills and Myrtlewood - Palmetto. The staff wasn't as inviting as the aforementioned locations. The course was extremely busy. In fact, the course decided to double tee each hole. Finally, the greens were recently aerated. The greens/fringe combination made it a very difficult day chipping. The greens were extremely hard and lighting fast, but the fringe was very soft and plush. If a chip shot hit the fringe, it was stopping immediately. The course is very open with some extremely wide fairways.

Would have liked to see how course or hole lays out. Either with scorecard, tee marker or range book.

Great golf course at a great price.

Very courteous service from bag boy to starter. We knew the greens had been punched a few weeks earlier but decided to play anyway since neither of us had played here. We were very surprised at the great course conditions, the excellent fairways, bunker conditions (for the most part) but were especially surprised at the condition of the greens. Very consistent, very smooth, not marked up at all and easy to repair ball markings. We will recommend your course to everyone we know. Thank you for making our day a memorable one. Only negative we had was the heat index that day, ugh. We'll be back.

Loved the course but played in extremely windy conditions.

Farmstead is our favorite Myrtle Beach area course. The staff is great and we have always found course conditions to be as good as any course in the area. Expect a 4 1/2 hour round unless you have an early tee time. If there was anything to improve, I would suggest figuring out how to have beverage cart service in both states.

Played the first 9 holes (back) in 2 hours and the 2nd 9 in 3 hours (waiting on every shot). Overbooking the cause of the back 9 slowness. Starter stated this is normal everyday happening. Didn't seem to care.

We played this course last year and our group wanted to go back. This year, the consensus was that we would not be back. None of us liked the greens at all. They were cut short and were really fast. That would be OK, except there was sand all over them and every little grain made the putts roll off line. There were also 2 very slow groups in front of us. The marshall came by a couple of times but it never got any faster.

This was a nice forgiving course and we enjoyed our time there. The weather was very windy and cold, which made the day a little longer. Bill, our golf mate, made the entire experience a wonderful one.

Played on 3-10-11 before the rains came. We all thought it was a good layout and interesting. We loved the par 6. Pro shop could have been a little friendlier. I had that challenge coupon and wanted buy a sweatshirt but not allowed only shirt shirts. I would still come back.

Always a great time at Farmstead, this was our 3rd or 4th year playing it in a row, and most likely will be back next year. The group likes it so much that we make it the day we all dress up in our knickers. Every fun course is a must-play!

Played this course on August 27. The best greens that I've seen this summer in the area. Very nice and super fast, can't get any better than that. Course layout is made for a good challenge, not too tough but you still have to play ball to score well. Staff was friendly, and all in all a good golfing experience worth more than the price paid.

We had a heavy rain just after starting the back nine, so we pulled off at the restroom building to wait it out. After the rain, we continued play, as we would at our home course. After about an hour, one of the marshals finally came around the course, and told us to pick up and leave. When we asked when the horn to close the course was blown, he was rude. We were playing with two locals who had played there several times before, and they were surprised at the way we were treated. They agreed that no horn was blown, or we would have all left the course. Turned an otherwise great course a little sour. We might play there again, but they need to do a better job of double teeing, they had someone teeing off on #1 when we made the turn for our back nine.

Did not feel pushed as tee times were spaced out! Great Time! The Par 6 hole was a great challenge and a neat experience!

I took a lesson there ... it helped me a lot ... will come back.

Wow, The course was outstanding. Fairways are plush and the greens are like putting on a pool table. Staff was friendly and polite. Only issue was with the misleading charity thing they do on hole #3. Should have known better. Nothing comes for free. They ask you for $10 donation and you get coupons for stuff in and around MB, they tell you that you receive a FREE Wedge, not true, you have to pay $28 for shipping & handling. Only useful coupon was a free draft beer.

This course tested everyone in our group. The starter/staff was superior.

I would suggest you avoid this course unless you are fine with a 5 hour plus round. Our group played the course on 3/15/2010. Overall the course was in good condition other than the greens being very hard. Pitch and run golf is required. While playing the first nine, the marshall advised us we were playing too fast (2 hour 10 minute pace). Later in the round we started experiencing a wait on each hole. After playing 9 holes, we discovered that there were 5 groups lined up on the tee. We experienced a 36-minute delay before we could start our second nine. The second nine was very slow. Be advised that the course allows fivesomes and when we inquired we were told by the staff that fivesomes do not slow the pace of play. We saw little very little concern for customer satisfaction. An employee of the course informed us that as long as we keep having 230 golfers a day we won't change anything.

Slickest greens I have played this year. Great conditions; I had a great time challenging the course and myself. I would play it again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this track.

Course was great as always. People are friendly, conditioning is perfect, we will come back every year.

Had to tee of an hour late because they overbook the course. The wouldn't even load our clubs on a cart and let us take it to the range. Staff was rude. Took us 4 hours to play the first nine holes! Nice course but I would NOT repeat. Very poorly managed.

Farmstead was in great shape as always. It sits to the North of some of the other courses, but you can always count on great conditions at both it and its sister course, Meadowlands. The price was reasonable and the pace of play ideal.

Have played here before, but will not include in nextg year's rotation.

The golf course was in excellent shape and it was the first time I had played there. I was in love with everything till we made the turn. I will NEVER play this course again unless theylearn how to run a club. When we finished the front 9 we had played it in 2 and half hours. IT took us another 3 and half hours to play the back 9 because of the way they booked tee times. They had groups just starting their round on the back 9 while groups were getting ready to finish on the back nine. At one point we had 5 groups on a PAR 3 THAT IS RIDICULOUS. Again great shape nice course poorly ran.

Wonderful course. The staff did a commendable job to get everyone out on the morning of 3/3/09 due to a significant overnight frost. They shotgun started everyone just after 10am.

sent people off 1 & 10 promoting slow play so they could put more golfers on golf course. for the first time in my life the starter told us we were playing to fast we needed to slow down. the grill room girl would not fix me a hot sandwich and we had to wait for 20 minutes to start on hole #1 which was our back nine I WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN we played with 2 members and that was the only enjoyable aspect of the day. the 2 gentleman we played with told us that 2 weeks earlier they played with 2 other visiting golfers and it took 6 hours to play the round. never again

Played 3, 2008: The staff was tremendous. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. From the bag drop to the pro shop to the starter, everyone was top-notch.
