When you play at Shaftesbury Glen Golf Course, a Winged Foot and Augusta National inspired design, it truly delivers a golfer’s dream with its traditional English style consisting of large, rectangular tee boxes, wide open fairways, and oversized, immaculate Bentgrass greens. Shaftesbury has been recognized by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Owners Association as Golf Course of The Year (2009); by Golf World Magazine as one of the Top 50 Golf Resorts as chosen by its readers (2009), as well as among the Top 22 of South Carolina’s more than 300 golf Courses (2009); and by Golf Digest with a 4-star rating in its “Places To Play” guide (2005) and a nomination for “Best New Public Course In America” (2001).
Popular holes at Shaftesbury include No. 1, a 366-yard, par 4 that features a dead-straight fairway crowned by a Tillinghast-esque elevated green with a flashed up bunker on its left front, leaving the shot selection restricted for the approach shot. Shaftesbury’s finishing hole, a 410-yard par 4, requires length more than accuracy. The beautiful backdrop makes playing 18 significant and memorable.
Course in excellent condition, generous off the tee and not much water in play. Pace of play was great and staff was very friendly. Our group enjoyed the round

Fun course with generous fairways and interesting layout. Definitely not a Scottish or links style course, but fun. The greens were aerated within the last month and had not fully recovered so putting left a lot to be desired. Play was slow. I had the first tee time of the day, however, two groups of local members were sent out infront of us and we had a 5 hour round.

Tees and greens were very good. The greens needed some work. Without the green chemicals they would have been very spotty.

Really enjoyed this course this past Sunday with my brothers. The greens we're not quite ready. They needed about another 2 weeks to completely ready from being plugged. Otherwise, the course was nice. Very playable for the average golfer. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Played an afternoon round (12:30pm on a thursday) for $80. Course was off the beaten path up in Conway off rte 22. Course was empty. We were literally the only ones out there for the first 7-8 holes before a 2-some caught us. really big putting/chipping green and a fairly good size grass tee driving range. Layout was decent. tree lined but generous fairways for the high handicapper (like myself). Conditions were good except for the fact that prior to us arriving in MB for this golf trip they had few inches of rain so it was cart path only for entire 18. some wet areas but fairways were green and the greens rolled nice. good mid-range, mid- price option. about a 30 minute drive from by-pass 17 if staying in MB area. girl working the bar at the turn struggled a little bit as it took us 12 min to order couple drinks and a hot dog(each) for the four of us. my guess is based on location this is not a course that gets a lot of vacationers play. big local course.

Course is in very good shape from Tee to Green. Nice layout but nothing that jumps out or wows you. The par 3's are strong even though they are all about the same yardage. Hole's #9 & 18 are strong finishing holes. Course was busy but pace of play was ok. Again nice course just don't expect any pizazzz.... FYI: Greens were very fast!

It had not rain for a few days and temperatures reached in the upper 90's but they never told me that it was cart path only when I booked a tee time (I got Shaftesburied again...). All the so call renovation they made must have not included drainage! Care to play this course please make certain that you can ride the fairways or it will be a wet day.

First time playing since renovations. Course is in good shape. Some thin areas on Tee Boxes & Fairways but nothing that can't be overlooked. Greens were perfect with lot's of different holes. Now the bad part: Pace of play was horrible. 4 foursomes in front of us that more into partying than golfing. Ranger came out on 6th hole & told us he was going to get them to speed up. Next 2 holes pace of play was fine but then slowed down to a crawl again. Did not see ranger again all day. Don't like being lied too!!!! . Funny, At the starter & bag drop area all the staff kept bragging on was how they keep up pace of play... Again Lip Service......

Played this course on 7-2. Course was in great shape even though the greens had been punched a couple of weeks ago. There was hardly anyone playing which was surprising. My foursome had a 8:28 tee time and played all 18 holes with only one individual coming through. Had nobody ahead of us or behind us all day. Great day of golf.

A beautiful course which would have been a pleasure on any other day. This day it was quite waterlogged due to heavy rains and carts were not permitted on the fairways. It would be nice if the clubhouse had more variety in the menu. I.e. salads.

Great course! We hadn't played this course in several years and decided to play it. I'm glad we did. Although it was cart path only, the round was still very enjoyable. The greens were in excellent shape. The fairways were longer than usual but this was due to having rain for the last 4 days. I highly recommend this course to anyone.

Played Shaftesbury today and our group was extremely pleased with the layout and its conditions. Excellent value, maybe the best value on the Strand. Very generous and carpet-like fairways leading to very large, mostly flat and very true greens sitting highly elevated and protected with huge & deep traps. Avoid the traps! Rt. 22 makes it easy to get to from North Myrtle. We definitely will be returning and recommending to friends.

You are charging $97!! I know it is in season, but haven't you heard we are in a money crunch? The course is slightly above average, but not in the top 20 @ the Beach. Also, the course is in the middle of nowhere. The trick is getting golfers to the course; good luck with this approach.

The course had a very nice layout. Unfortunately, like many other recent visitors to the area, we played the course the day after rain and it was very wet. The greens were in great shape since they all were well above the level of the approach shots, but the fairways were soaked and it was cart path only. You better like sand because these greens are well guarded with a lot of ball-eating bunkers!

Shafesbury was a disappointment. It was very, very wet and played very long. The layout was the most disappointing - most of the holes were straight wide fairways with the only challenge coming at the greens. The greens were all elevated and flashed with bunkers. The greens were very large and rolled true. Since nothing bounced, many holes required a second shot of over 200 yards. If the ball landed on the upslope short of the green, it would not bounce up. Outside of the wetness, course conditions were very good - tees, bunkers and greens.
