Founders Club
Located just off U.S. 17, the Founders Club golf course is nestled between Myrtle Beach and Georgetown in Pawleys Island, S.C.
Unlike any other course on the Grand Strand, the Founders Club recently received an overall rating of 8.0 from reviewers at Myrtle Beach Golf Insider. The course received even higher marks when it came to its pro shop and staff. The course has also been recognized as a top-30 course from the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel. Laid atop what had been the Sea Gull Golf Club, the Founders Club opened in 2008 to much anticipation and even more approval. The Tom Walker re-design incorporated some of Gene Hamm’s original architecture while also putting to use a natural environment that included native Lowcountry grasses, Carolina Pines and, of course, plenty of sand.
Aside from all that sand – which is put to use on about 85 percent of the cart paths, expansive waster bunkers and even a solid chunk of the roughs – the Founders Club design makes sure you know you’re at a different course right off the bat. The 20,000 square-foot putting green just outside the clubhouse also doubles as the tee box for the No. 1 hole. So every player teeing off on the front nine is hitting off a pristine Emerald Bermuda on the first shot. Rated as the 15th hardest hole on the course, however, can trick players into thinking the entire round is going to be that easy. The last four holes on the front include the first-, third- and fifth-handicaps. The par-4, 396-yard No. 7 has a definitive Walker feel to it. Elevation differences affect the distance between all seven tee boxes and a fairway landing area on the other side of a small pond. Manage that potential dagger, and there’s still a double-guarded green.

Awesome
Andrew
The club was very nice. The Golf Pro in the shop greeted us and had everything ready to go.
Bob
Staff was friendly. Practice area was less than expected. Just a hitting screen, no range. Grass around the greens was sparse, mainly hard dirt and sand. Did get to see 4 gators, that was the highlight of the round!
Donna
Course was in great condition. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Mike
It’s been years since I played here last and it was my first round after arriving after a three day drive the day before. Great place to start as it’s pretty forgiving off the tee! Overall course conditions were reasonable for a “brisk” early February day and what appears to have been a fairly wet recent few days. Fairways provided firm tight lies, the rough was dormant and thin, the greens held decent shots and putted fairly smooth. The inside staff was friendly and helpful and the outside staff taking care of the numerous waste areas was very respectful actually shutting off the grooming machine while hitting a tee shot on a par 3. Overall a great start to a six week stay - I’ll be back!
Matthew
Challenging and different. Would like to play it again. Fun course
Bryan
Always a great course to play. Fourth time and have never been disappointed
William
Great place to play in excellent condition. This course tests all aspects of your game but is very fair. Great visuals especially on the par threes. A lot of sand but a majority of the bunkers don't come into play. Greens rolled great
Ryan
our group enjoyed playing here we found it to be a little tougher than the courses in the area but still liked it.
Scott
Course in outstanding condition great place to play. Pace of play was 3.5 hours--excellent
William
Absolutely love playing here. Course in excellent condition from tee to green. Challenging but unlike any other design in Myrtle Beach.
Mike
Enjoyed the day
Steve
Pleasantly surprised! This being the cheapest of the four places we played, I didn't expect it to be as well conditioned as it was. The course itself was very nice and the staff was over-the-top nice! We had a 1:35 tee time but due to traffic hold-ups on our 6 hour trip to get there, we arrived 1:00 with no lunch yet. The starter said that there were no other tee-times scheduled after ours so we could go into the course grill and take our time for some lunch. We were pleasantly shocked by how laid back he, and everyone else was at Founders Club. A real pleasure to visit!
Laurie
Our favorite course of the week.
Paul
Course in good shape, different from others and fun to play.
Matt
Tough, sandy but fun. Would like to play again to see if I could play it better
Scott
Course in great shape, greens rolled excellent we played in less than 4 hours..nice day to play
William
Love playing Founders Club, the layout is unlike anything in Myrtle Beach. Lots of sand but manageable even for the average player. The mounding defines and frames each hole and the par threes are a lot of fun. In very nice condition, look forward to playing here again soon.
Paul
enjoy playing here in good shape. Pace of play was just under 4 hours
Lee
Our group enjoyed playing here, very different layout fun and in nice shape.
William
Course in excellent condition, greens rolled great and held. Fairways excellent as well. Fun course to play, Even after a day of rain we were riding on the fairways.
Scott
1st time played. was nice, especially the greens
John
I enjoyed the course and especially the layout. The tee boxes were rough and the fairways had a lot of bare spots. I enjoyed driving through the waste bunkers as the cart paths !! Great finishing hole.
Ted
Staff very friendly and helpful. Golf course from tee up to greens was terrible. Very little grass. Mostly dirt. Greens overall were very good. Good smooth tight turf. Very true. Average speed.
Michael
Awesome
Danny
Very playable, enjoyed our round, group felt course was not easy but fair.
Allen
greens rolled good, nice and firm, some lies were challenging due to condition. Very unique design and enjoyable round. pace was somewhat slow at just over 4h
Kevin
Had a blast. The drink and lunch coupons were an amazing value
Frank
I liked the layout of the course. It was challenging and fun. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were bare and need work.
Jaso
Course was not in great shape
William
Always fun to play here as the design is unlike any other in Myrtle Beach, even some elevation change. Greens rolling really good...enjoyable day
Rob
Disappointing. Not a good value for the price we paid. Course was not in good shape (I realize it's still early season). Greens were in decent shape. There was very little grass on the fairways, little signage. The scorecard didn't have a map of the holes showing bunkers and hazards and it was our first time playing there, so we were playing blind. That's not fair to vacationers who travel to your course. Cart paths are mostly sand, as are much of the fairways. We didn't want this to be our last course in MB, so we went back to another course we enjoyed earlier in the week and played a second round.
Larry
Extremely slow play. Fairway conditions were very poor.
Andrew
Like the course. Nice layout. Greens good shape. Rough was playable but hard to get a feel playing bermuda grass.
Powell
Course was OK
William
Golf course in really nice shape, second time playing here layout is a lot of fun. Course was amazingly dry for all the rain recently. Friendly staff, very nice day.
Joseph
Fun course pleasant round of golf
Lloyd
I enjoyed the course, the course employees were friendly and courteous and I will plan to play Founders Club again.
Dane
Tough but fair
Jane
Enjoyed it immensely! The course is very different from the other courses we play on Pawleys Island. Nice change of pace. Will definitely play again.
Mitch
We liked it. The course was in well enough shape to play and had a good layout. Definitely some challenging holes and had some really nice scenic views throughout. We would consider playing it again in the future.
Carlton
Very Good
William
First time playing Founders Club and enjoyed it. Despite the recent rain we were riding fairways on all but 3 holes. Vey unique design with some slight elevation changes that aren't normal for Myrtle Beach. Many bunkers on the course but a lot of them are not in play and frame the hole. Some holes have a couple options off the the tee. The 150 yard posts are great markers to use when teeing off. Will play again, greens rolled really good.
David
Very nice course, great layout
Brad
First time playing here. Really unique interesting layout, enjoyed most of the holes even though it was a chilly day. Would like to play again when it's warmer. Friendly staff
Jane
What sets Founders Club apart from other courses in this area is the changes in elevation. Every other course is fairly flat. We play a lot of the courses in the south end and enjoy them all but this place offers a change of pace. We will come back.
Dan
Great course.
Matthew
Great friendly staff get you right out to play. Challenging course in great shape
Matt
Loved the waste bunkers but would have liked to have a gps for hidden water bunkers
Dale
Nice layout and all people who worked there were very kind an helpful
Daren
Rough was 8 to 10 inches long lost a ball in the rough just a few feet off the fairway. Greens different speeds
Richard
one of the most interesting courses I have ever played
Robert
Very nice. Greens were great and rolled true. Only negative thing is there is no hole layout at the tee boxes or on the score card to give you idea of the layout of the holes and no cart girl.
Jeffrey
Very nice layout. Felt overall course needs some work. Staff very friendly. Got us out early for our tee time.
Dottie
Got stormed off the course. Was enjoying it until thenrnrnrn
Donald
Overall disappointing
Jay
Very nice experience, fair price, nice course....loved the gator on #18 pond-it was worth the price of a golf ball!!
Bob
Fair experience. Would have liked heads up on course conditions.
Beau
Very fun course in decent shape, enjoyed every minute of my time there.
Walter
Was okay - sanded greens - course was better week before
Cathy
The check in staff was helpful and friendly. The ladies bathroom in the club house was filthy
Anthony
Not my favorite course but fair. Waste bunkers are not my favorite.
Robert
Disappointed.Reviews were from 2018. Staff courteous and friendly, tees well manicured. Fairways very dry and limited grass compared to other clubs. Greens were mediocre with some die out in parts. Waste bunkers were a different challenge. Not sure it should be rated in top 25
Walter
It was a pleasant day of golf. Most greens in decent shape, better than last year.
Robert
Very challenging course, especially the back nine.
Rene
I like the design of the course, it is very challenging and the undulating greens are very nice. you need good chipping to have a good score.
Susan
Would have like to have known the course layout - free layout booklet
Jack
Great layout.
Pierre
Good golf
James
the greens were aerated several days before I played. I knew that when I booked and still had an enjoyable round.
Ray
All good
Jerry
Course in good shape staff very nice greens good shape
James
Clubhouse and facilities were great.
Joel
Really nice greens. Generous fairways. Very enjoyable round
Boris
Interesting course. Was enjoyable to play.
Christopher
Tee boxes and fairways in excellent condition. Waste type sand on every hole which serve as cart path as well. The greens were in immaculate condition and rolled extremely well. The cart attendant and starter were very nice. We saw a nice looking alligator on #7 edge of pond and plenty of turtles and birds. Looking forward to my next round at the Founders Club as it's all about shot placement on this course.
David
Course has a lot of character
John
Nice course and staff. There were considerable rain storms the day before and the course was in need of attention, but I would definitely play there again.
Tim
Only downside was the replay rate we were given was the same full rate on the website. Expected a discount for a replay. We paid $29 for a 9 hole replay, the exact same rate anybody could get on the website. Asked the attendant and he said we were getting a "big discount over regular rate for the replay". Whatever. Greens were great, a little slow but very consistent. Lady working the grill was very nice.
Linda
Loved the challenge.
Bryan
Excellent layout. Challenging enough to be interesting, but not frustrating
Bonnie
Not too much water, very women-friendly
Sherry
Tom
Great shape greens tees fairways bunkers, shot my best round in awhile 40-40,all I can say is good good .
Randy
Staff very friendly and helpful. They could have done something about the 30 mph winds lol..
Steve
A real fun course to play. Some really tough holes and some birdie holes. Played this course a dozen times and it has never been in better condition. The greens were perfect. hardly a blemish on them. The fairways were full and plush. A real pleasure to play at a really good price. Staff was awesome. A bit of a hidden gem in Pawley's Island among all of the more notable and expensive courses.
Charles
I had played this course formally when it was Sea Gull and the changes were wonderful. The clubhouse and layout were definitely better.
Brian
Enjoyable Round
Rick
I liked that the scorecard listed handicap and tee box correlation. Also, the tee to fairway distance: no forced carries too difficult for the ability of the golfer.
Edward
Good variety of challenges. Get to use all you clubs
Jon
Nice course in good condition. No starter or bag man but not a big problem to me. We got there early and got out early which was nice. Very playable and would play again.
William
Very enjoyable layout, different from other Myrtle Beach Golf Courses. Friendly staff and even after a lot of rain we were driving on the fairways. Will definitely play here again
Ted
Course is in rough shape right now. Fairways & Tee Boxes need serious work. Many fairways were bare in lots of spots & tee boxes the same. MB has had a lot of rain recently but other courses I have played during the last couple of weeks are not as bad. Disappointed in the conditions since I have played the course many times & it has been in much better shape. Layout is very nice & staff is always very friendly.
Timothy
A great layout and in good condition. The staff was very friendly. You just might wear out your sandwedge here because there are many bunkers but that's part of the game.
Ted
Fun Course. Lot's of waste area's but very playable. Several holes with elevation changes which is unusual for MB. Might not be some players cup of tea but after playing it several times I think you would enjoy it. Pace of play was excellent.
John
Also great. Tough layout. Getting a replay after first 18 was easy. Pro shop staff was great.
Bryan
Staff are professional and very accommodating. Great customer service
Garry
Great course. Groups nicely spaced out, friendly staff.
Ted
Nice Course. Not for everyone with all the waste bunkers but well designed. Course was in good shape overall, some very wet spots in some fairways but not unplayable. Some of the greens have some rough spots but overall nice. Very nice staff. Would recommend playing here.
Ken
Staff and everyone was very helpful. Little tricky getting from some greens to the next tee box, but we managed. Course gave us a information booklet for the course giving yardages and tips that was very useful.
Brian
Staff was great. Only negative comment is too many waste bunkers.
David
First time playing Founders since the renovation. They did a nice job but might have gone a little overboard with the waste bunkers. They come into play on almost every hole. But did enjoy the course.
David
Starting process and people not great. No good way to take clubs to car with cart. Course layout not to my liking. Course not in great shape, greens fair for time of year. Very slow and ranger didn't move anyone along. Would not play won't come back.
Keith
Another awesome experience.
Robert
Little evidence of storm. Beautiful layout. Makes tee shots fun with large landing areas. Second shots and more requires planning enjoyable afternoon.
Ted
Course is in great shape 1 week after Hurricane Matthew came thru. Hat's off to the grounds crew. Their were lots of trees down everywhere but none that came into play. Fairways were dry in most spots & the Greens are rolling true. The staff are very nice.
Ted
Tee Boxes & Greens are in good shape but the fairways need some maintenance. Lots of weeds growing the fairways & around some greens. Pace of play was good. Interesting design, you need to play the course a few times to enjoy it more.
Susan
Very different design with all of sand fairways.
Norman
The course was more of a target golf than a grip and rip it course. Greens were in really good shape and rolled true. This couse is a good value and a course to start your vacation.
Christine
It was a challenging course. I think had we not been with friends who have played the course before, it would have been hard to find the next hole, especially where there are road crossings. Signage could be better. All in all, we enjoyed our round.
Gary
Nice, fair course. We played from the gold because we had a new golfer with us, but will return to go from the whites for a truer picture.
Charles
I understand the need to aerate the greens, but it seems as though someone went a little overboard this year.
Timothy
The layout is really fabulous but unfortunately, I'm sure because of money, the condition has suffered to the point that the greens were truly unplayable. Absolutely great layout though if it was even in marginal shape.....
James
(Would like to have known prior to play) that the greens were in such cases poor condition.
Nick
Very unique course for the area. Had a great time playing here. Not too flashy of a track but provides challenge.
Michael
Sand running down both sides of fairways.
Gregory
Best greens we played on. Pro worked a great price on a new driver.
Scott
Decent course. I've played most of the courses in the are and this ranked for me in the middle. If you like wasteland bunker type courses this would be for you. Not my thing and my score suffered because of it. Course was in good condition so nothing bad to,say about it.
Gene
i think we layout is awesome. Used every club in my bag. The course condition was above average and the greens were excellent. I'll play there on my next visit.
Fred
Very fast and undulating greens
Bob
Great course from the blue tees. Played this course off an on since it was the old Seagull track. (about 12 times in the past). Lots of good memories created here.
Jim
Founders Club was a pleasant surprise. I was nervous reading the reviews and with it being right on Hwy 17. Nerves continued when I found there was no driving range. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff (very friendly and reasonable) and the course itself. The fairways were in great condition and the greens were very nice. I would have liked a hole preview, whether an image or a book, for a couple of the holes; knowing which fairway to hit would have been nice! But we followed some locals and used them as our guide! Great course and I would recommend it.
Grover
We had a nice time...
Tony
Excellent Greens
Charles
I didn't like hitting off the hard sand.
Bryan
Staff was exceptional.
William
Starter guy was helpful.
Timothy
Good trip to the South End of Myrtle Beach area. The greens have recovered from previous years of trouble. Pleasant staff and the course overall is in good shape. A few carts on the path holes but mostly running the fairways. I'll return.
Robert
Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. The course workers were also attentive and friendly. The course is in great shape even with all the rain the area has gotten.
Michael
The course layout is great and challenging as well. My wife felt the tee placements for the women made the course much more playable for her ability.
Michael
The individual holes on the course are quite good. Some may not like the large waste areas on nearly every hole. That said, the landing zones are generous enough. The layout is odd in the distance between some holes. This course is not walkable. The course condition is very good and will definitely get a replay.
Bob
I found this course to be in excellent shape, fairways and greens were well maintained. Staff were very friendly and prices quite reasonable.
Robert
It was out this time I played Founders. By no means is it a reflection on the staff or the course. Normally the course has great conditions. Still a must play anytime of the year!
Cliff
Doing some construction otherwise a nice course.
Bill
Late November day, we were put off the back nine, since 3 groups were going off in front of us on the front. We had no issues at the turn and were able to play in about 3.5 hours. I like the course and will be back.
Gary
The course was wet due to all the rain lately but was still in excellent condition. The staff here in both the pro shop and grill are always friendly and courteous. Today we played cart path only in three hours twenty minutes. Greens were in excellent condition. This course is a good test with elevated greens and some carries over water. Very scenic.
Larry
We knew that the course would be wet and some damage due to recent floods, staff made up for any shortfalls on the course.
Michael
I liked that it was very senior friendly. Hitting from the senior tees leaves you second shots with irons or hybrids in stead of fairway woods. Gives you a better chance for par.
J
I was hoping the reviews I had read weren't accurate, but I'm afraid some of them were. For the record I really like the layout. The staff has always been great to me. Conditions wise, well, it needs to improve. It's not awful, but when you have True Blue, Heritage and Caledonia, among others as your competitors, you need to be better than OK. I played it 3 times over two days. Trying to help them out. I'd hate to see it go under and be sold. Now that it is under new ownership maybe they'll pump some money into the few areas that need a bit of fixing up.
Clayton
Fair test, no tricks.
Eddie
Nice course in good condition and worth the price I paid online.
David
Very slow greens - the slowest I've played of any South Strand course. Several greens are suffering from some problem - especially #17. The fairways are good on about 75% of the holes, with some suffering with areas of thin or little grass. The course is a great layout, but is currently not the best value for golf conditions and playability. As a member, I am disappointed with current conditions.
Timothy
We have been avoiding the Founder's Club because the last time we played here the greens were pretty much dead, it was like putting on packed mud. I'm happy to say that it has come back and I saw maintenance groups working while we played. That's a good sign. The greens are now about average for the Myrtle area for this time of year. The layout here is nice with some challenging holes and some that play very easy. The staff was friendly and talkative which always puts me in a good frame of mind. I would recommend a round here, it's worth the drive from Myrtle Beach.
Brian
Love the layout, but course conditions were not great this year.
Ronald
Fair.
Terry
We should have gotten a yardage book, lay up yardages were tricky.
Matt
Nice layout, lots of waste areas that give it a Pinehurst feel. Good shape overall with exception of #1 fairway (bare spots). Greens putted well.
Richard
Really enjoyed this course also.
Gary
The course was in terrible shape. the fairways were awful with the only green grass on the t box and the green. not worth 80.00 a man to play on dirt.
Joe
Nice layout but tees and fairways in need of upgrade...My group not happy with Founders Club playing conditions....
Alson
Really good
Bob
Nice layout, challenging enough. Very enjoyable.
Brett
Overall a good course. Price is equal to higher quality course.
Tom
The layout/architecture is unique and challenging and the people there were super. The course is in serious need of maintenance. The greens are new but old pick marks in them are not healing well, leaving a pretty bumpy surface near most of the pin placements. Edges of the waste bunkers at path entry/exits should be filled in and re-graded so cart suspensions and lower backs are not injured. Many outstanding holes. Could be championship caliber with some cash to spruce it up.
Phillip
Really like the design and layout of the holes, every hole is unique.
Timothy
I enjoy the layout even though you have to be careful crossing roads. The staff was very nice but the greens were almost unplayable. I hope the greens will come back.
David
Was all good, no complaints!
Jason
Nice layout of holes. The setting of the course is not as picturesque as other local courses
Jack
Played Founders Club 2 weeks ago, and I can't speak any more highly of the condition it was in. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Greens where rolling around an 11, fairways were green and cut short, and the rough was unbearably high (bermuda rough stinks no matter) but still penalizes you if you don't hit a tee ball in the fairway. I would highly recommend getting out there and enjoying the course!
Tour
If you like terrible fairways and crossing highways in your golf cart that have a 45 mile per hour speed limit this course if for you. I think we crossed 7 or 8 streets and felt like I was playing in someone's back yard on every hole. Worst course we ever played in MYR.
Sean
We did not enjoy this course at all. Way too expensive for the condition - had to cross a major highway in a golf cart! And the signage around the course was horrible. Will definitely not play this course again.
Bob
We were split on this course. An interesting layout, but the tight lies made it too challenging! It would have been better to start on ##1 rather than ##10.
Bill
We also played King's North at the National about average ...and Caledonia... This is the best course bar none anywhere in Myrtle Beach ...
Jean-Pierre
A discovery - surprising course - challenging - fun to play - a totally different experience - loved it. Would go back and recommend for sure!
John
Outstanding.
Steve
Most playable course played in Myrtle Beach. Grounds maintenance and course conditions were average at best. Fun round.
Ed
Excellent.
Robert
Uniqueness, condition of entire course, challenging but fair, made you think, starter and staff. We have a group of 8 coming down in April of 2013. Founders Club will be on our list! Great choice!
Alan
Not what I was expecting. Greens were bad, spotty at best. For the money I paid I wanted more. Fairways were nice, tee boxes not so much and there is a lot of waste bunkers so put your towels up on your cart.
Keith
Greens were rough.
Carter
Greens are burnt bad.
Myren
Good course.
O
Greens a bit rough but fast. Understand timing of bermuda. Beautiful layout, design. Cart girl whizzed by 4 times without looking or stopping, even during our putting. Still a treat to play here.
John
Too many waste bunkers. Some bunkers look like they haven't been raked since the course was remodeled a couple of years ago. Would have liked a diagram of the course on the scorecard as a minimum. Also the ride from the 3rd green to the 4th tee is downright dangerous on King's River Road.
Bob
The greens were so slow we were hardly ever able to get the ball to the hole. There is definitely a change in the Club as opposed to years in the past when we have played here. The cart team was really pushy in getting us off the carts. We played in four hours and twenty minutes which is really good so this was a real poor situation as far as we were concerned.
Thomas
Very good.
Hobby
Played 3/28. Nice layout and conditions. Staff was great. Would play again.
Hobby
Played this on 3/28. Nice course. Great design. Plays harder than the slope and course rating. Front 9 is more difficult than back. Great staff in the grill. Would play again.
Robert
Almost no one there in the morning. Course wound through a residential area, but will play again.
Dan
Very interesting layout. Thoroughly enjoyed the round, even though the first nine holes were played in a drizzle.
John
This course is definitely on our replay list. We were astounded at the new layout. The day we played was a little misty and overcast. I cannot wait to see it on a sunny day!
James
Excellent course. One of our favorites ... may be the best overall layout along with Heritage. Great shape, great people, great prices.
Travis
This is a great golf course. We played Players and Founders same day and that in itself is a daunting task. One of my favorites in Myrtle and we are going back this April 2012 to play both of these courses.
Gamal
OK course, nothing really special. Disappointed with driving range and bunkers running alongside the fairway.
George
Great course, great shape, bargain rate.
Todd
This course was in awesome condition and the layout was spectacular. This course has it all, long holes and some short ones that require some precision. The speed of play was great, 4 golfers which included two free juniors, 3 hours 45 minutes. Will be back for sure.
Daniel
I have been coming down to MB for over 10 years and this is one of the best. It's a must-play.
John

My group and I had the pleasure of playing Founders last week, at one of the hottest times of the year for courses in the area. We previously played International Club and Sandpiper Bay, and both courses mentioned that the course is a bit brown due to the heat. Founders, however, was different - they kept their course in far better condition than any other course we stepped foot on that week. From tee to green, the condition was great, considering the heat.
Moving on to design, the waste bunkers were one of the coolest aspects of the design. I loved the dual-purpose of cart path and bunker, and landing in them near the green required incredible creativity in order to properly hit the ball. The waste bunkers were strategically placed, were in excellent shape, and were easy on the eyes as well. One of the best public courses in the U.S, Forest Dunes, has waste bunkers everywhere, and Founders had many striking similarities.
The staff, from the pro shop to the rangers, was extremely accommodating. We experienced issues on other courses in relation to only having 3 bags for 4 players (one bag had 20 clubs in them, since airlines charge $100 round-trip to ship a golf bag), and Founders understood and treated us as guests should be treated.
The pace of play was never a problem despite being very busy. Rangers did a wonderful job.
GPS was accurate and useful. Another wonderful perk to this course.
Not having a range was a bit of a drawback, but as a redesign, they only had so much to work with, and at least they have hitting nets and a wide open first hole to feel the tendency of your swing that day.
Overall, my favorite course in MB that we had the pleasure of playing. If waste bunkers bother you, check out Forest Dunes in MI. It didn't seem to bother Weiskopf or critics at Golf Digest. MUST PLAY!!
Robert
Excellent course ... greens were true, fairways tight ... and loved the fact that you have to think your way through this course instead of just bombing it off the tees.
Maury
Loved everything.
Garry
Loved the new redesign.
Doug
Good golf experience. Founders was great. We all thought Burning Ridge was terrible. We also enjoyed Indian Wells which was not included in survey.
Keith
The waste areas were interesting and I actually liked them. I was pleased with the course and knowing anything about the course prior to my playing would not make a difference because I'm still at the playing for fun stage.
Mike
GOLFERS BEWARE: We tried to play this course Monday, Sept. 27th, 2010 but the weather did not cooperate. After severe raining and thunderstorms through the night and morning (that made the course unplayable, unless you had a boat) this golf club would not accept to refund our green fees. For a very competitive golfing landscape in Myrtle Beach, this makes no sense, and I would strongly recommend you choose a course that shows more common sense and courtesy to its customers.
Rich
Good staff, no practice area! Just a net ... played in Father & Son in July; the place was in great shape even with the weather. Use and extra half club on 18!
Jim
Beautiful course, but difficult! Loved it.
John
What a course! Was nervous about playing this place because of the cheap price. One of the best courses we played for the week. Would play again!
Keith
Staff very informative ... watch out for the alligators!
Dennis
Was a rainny day so limited staff . Did not have anyone helping with bags. Carl in the pro shop was very good!
Anthony
I disliked the need to cross over public streets so many times. The layout was very interesting and the course played very fair.
Jack
Great day, course was in good shape, people were nice. Would play it again.
Frank
Very challenging, a target course that probably would only appeal to low handicappers. Don't feel it is a good course for senior play or ladies play.
Timothy
Greens were early season but playable. I think this is one of the best courses I've played so far this year and this is our 8th round. Love the layout and staff was excellent.
Jean-Paul
Even with cart-path-only, easy to play and walk around.
Steve
Good course but took 5 1/2 hours to play.
Karen
A Beautiful course but local knowledge is key. I hit the ball well but putting was a real issue. Birdying 18 made the day less painful.
Ed
Still needs time to mature.
Payton34ever
Great layout and fairways in awesome shape. Recently overseeded greens a tad bit too slow, but greens in great condition. Will put this course in regular rotation to play.

Did not enjoy the layout (too much sand).
David
Awesome.

Fair course, decent layout. Not my type of course. Would not play it again or recommend it.
Andy
Golf was OK; course wet.

I played this course on Apr 26 and was very impressed. The course was in great condition and although the are a lot of waste bunkers they usually don't come into play. It looks more intimidating than it is. Pro staff was very very friendly and even offered an unsolicited reduction in my green fees.

Commented on January 12, 2009: The golf course has matured tremendously in the first year. Fairways are lush, greens nearly perfect, and large amounts of vegetation have been added.

Played Oct. 19, 2008: I was very disappointed with this course and felt it was not worth the money. There were eight of us and we were all disappointed. Would not go back.

Commented on December 4, 2008: Wow ... opinions abound on this one. Mine's simple: I played it a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. A far different course than the old Sea Gull. Agree with Hugh that 9 would be so much better if the trees on the left were cleared.

Played June 18, 2008: While it was a nice course and in good shape, there was too much criss-crossing of roads to get to the next hole. The course was too spread out for us.

Commented on November 18, 2008: Played the Founders Club on Saturday Nov. 15. I really enjoyed the course; it is a very good test. The 9th hole is a hole that could be a fantastic finishing hole if the trees on the left corner off the tee were taken out so the player looked directly at the lake and bunker. The fairway over the corner and to the lay up area need to be wider with some trees on the right taken out. This could be a beautiful golf hole. If this course was in a different area of the Grand Strand it would be one of the more popular courses in the area. Well worth the time to play.

Commented on November 13, 2008: Played Nov. 6, played it again Nov 7. I like the course spread out a little. Waste bunkers down each side of the fairway, if you hit it halfway straight they are not in play a lot. I hit out of waste bunkers three times per round. Lots of variety, we all enjoyed both rounds.
