I enjoyed it. Very very difficult greens and bunkers, but that’s part of the fun of playing a PGA quality course. I was in the bunkers about 10 times lol. Greens are extremely well protected.

It was a great experience. Course was in great condition. We knew that the course was undergoing construction but it did not impact our overall experience.

A great day of golf. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The course was in great shape and the greens were amazing. Can't wait to return.

The greens were perfect and very fast. The fairways were were being over seeded, but were still very satisfactory.

I thought the course had a nice layout. Plenty of bunkering, some elevated greens, some doglegs, some tree lined holes, some short par 4s some long par 4s.

Awesome. Great classic layout with some twist. Tour conditions on the green. Running around 11. 20 mph winds can put a hurting on your handicap. Clubhouse great products but bring your $$$. Best in Myrtle.

Course was in beautiful condition, but just not the exceptional layout that I thought it would be. Could also use hole layouts either on the card or on the tee markers. Come to think of it they need tee markers and better directions on the course.

Have been coming to MB for 29 years to play golf and this was my first expereince at Dunes Golf and Beach Club. A friend got my group a very good rate and it was more enjoyable at that rate. I have heard so much hype about Dunes and I guess I was just expecting more. Don't get me wrong. Great golf course in excellent shape. I guess it just did not have the WOW factor I expected. Definitely was on my Bucket List and now it has been ticked off. The greens were super fast, the fairways in good shape and all in all the course is very playable. More of an old style golf course with moderately generous tree lined fairways. I can see why it gets high reviews but I have played other courses in MB with more of a WOW factor to them. If you have not played Dunes, at least play it once and decide for yourself.

The course was beautiful. It's a difficult course but not as bad as I thought. No complaints.

Excellent Experience.

Conditions were as close to perfect as we could ask. Fairways were lush, tightly mowed & we got some roll. Greens were perfect running about an 11. Great practice facility, and it was a joy playing a 4 hour round :) Yes it's pricey, but we felt it was well worth treating ourselves, & we plan to do it again on our next trip!!!!

We really enjoyed the course. Nice layout and the starter got us out a little early so we were ahead of several foursomes. Once we played through the foursome ahead of us, we had clear sailing and made it around in about 3-1/2 hours. Tees and greens were terrific. Greens are fast but run true. Lots of grounds crew out rolling the greens and maintaining the course after the recent rainstorms. Fairways were still carts on path and there was standing water in some areas; however, the course is quite playable. We'd definitely play again and would like to play it under drier conditions. One of the nicest rounds we played in Myrtle Beach. Restaurant overlooking the ocean had great lunch choices as well. The tuna melt was delicious.

First time I got to play, Dunes. BEST COURSE EVER. Everyone was outstanding. Loved the dogleg par 5.

Greens roll great and and have softened after the reseeding. Fairways were unusually thin with some areas sparse of turf. Always an enjoyable classic layout.

The third oldest golf course in the Myrtle Beach area. This is just a great layout. It reminds me of a plantation type golf course and is a fine layout offering very different type of golfing experience. I like this golf course a lot and enjoy the diversity of holes and required shot making requirements. As I recall it requires 5 left to right tee shots and 5 right to left tee shots so bring your A game. Just a grand old golf course that is fun and interesting to play.

There is a reason this course is always rated #1 in Myrtle Beach. The staff treats you like they are glad you are there. The course is always in perfect condition. The layout is tops. Our group plays here every year and that will continue.

Green were immaculate and rolled fast and smooth. The 13th is my favorite hole.

Simply top of the line...among the best. A traditional parkland course with raised green complexes, with very fast greens that take a little getting used to, and that can make for difficult approaches given their bunkering. All in our group always enjoy our experience here.

This is a classic RTJ Sr. course design with elevated undulating greens and cavernous bunkers surrounding them. The greens were in exceptional condition and rolled true and smooth. The course plays long due to the moisture in the conditioning with lots of mud-balls. The variety of hole layouts made this a memorable round

Staff very good and friendly. Course very wet from recent rains and had to do cart paths only. This caused longer play and made course more difficult due to no roll. Greens also. Look forward to playing again sometime when weather conditions are better.

Played it Tues. 3/11. Course was in great condition and everyone from the bag drop to starter to grill were very nice. It was a real treat. Even got a great deal on merchandise in the Pro Shop.

It was a great experience!

The yardage was not marked clearly, no hole markers that we could see, we even made comments to each other about what hole is this, how far do you think we are etc. Nice course good layout some memorable holes.

I'm not sure what to say, we enjoyed it ... the price might keep us away though I don't know that it's worth more than other places at half the price it's not double the golf course it's about the same.

Beautiful course, immaculate condition. Staff were great. Due to some less than stellar play, we had been a bit slow. The attendant nicely asked us to pick it up. We did. He met us at the turn and thanked us. we really appreciated this. Grill is beautiful, overlooking the ocean, with very good food.

The course was enjoyable. Should have a replay special. Was vacationing from Toronto, Canada. Thought that charging my group $50 per person was excessive. Will play another course with better specials. The course was nice however.

This is a must-play. For $60 you will never get a better deal. Course condition superior and the layout is fantastic. Very challenging course, learned ball doesn't fly as far at sea level.

This course has been rated the #1 course in Myrtle Beach. The layout is excellent and the par 5 13th hole is a bear. The greens were not in very good condition. You could see where they might have had some kind of fungus. For $122 it could have been better.

Deserves its place as one of the premier courses on the Beach. Outstanding conditions and a true test of every part of your game. No. 13 is a great golf hole, and the whole course is strong. A little stuffy and maybe over-priced, but still a very nice golf experience.

We'd like to have known the condition of the greens.

Cart staff not quite together with things when showed up. Was busy though. Pro shop very good. Course in great shape. Can't wait to play again. Grill was unorganized. Had to deliver our orders out on course. And it was cold food. Overall super experience. Course is awesome.

The Dunes was excellent. Traditional layout, beautiful, established. plenty of sand and water on the course. Elevated greens - take an extra club on every approach. The greens were in excellent shape in mid-August. They rolled true, but were a bit slower than my home course.

Starter stated that pace of play was the most important thing to remember. The course allowed a member who was also an injured ex-NFL player and guest to ruin a good day. The course wouldn't do anything to help speed up the round and the group wouldn't allow other to play through ... they were very rude. We are all members of a club and our clubs would not allow this type of behavior or pace of play. We paid a lot to play this course and it was probably one of the best conditioned courses that I've played. Too bad they allowed this to mess up what could have been a great day.

Awesome course! One of my top 3 of all time and it was not even in season! Greens rolled nice and fairways like carpet. Tee boxes were pretty nice. Immaculate mowing job. 13 was probably the most challenging hole and we even saw an alligator in water. We are used to playing at Bayside in Ocean City, MD area so the quality was a match for us and what we are used to. I can't wait to play there again.

Great vistas, interesting holes, enjoyed playing an older style beach course, no gimmick holes. Rough was cleared well. Aesthetically pleasing.

Nice course, but lot of blind shots. No hole layout provided. A little pricey considering other nice courses around. It was still very enjoyable.

Don't let members feel like they own the place. Our foursome was constantly waiting for a single who was playing multiple balls. That is unacceptable and very poor etiquette. When we made the turn and mentioned to the starter all he said was that he was a member. Then it got worse on the back side. He appeared to be getting a lesson. Again holding up our foursome. A single should never hold anyone up. When mentioned to another worker and were told the single does this every morning.

Pro shop is a little snooty towards non-members. Course was in great condition and I like the layout very much. Had a nice time in the grill afterwards - Ben the bartender was very nice.

Best course in all of Myrtle, and I have played over 85 courses. Greens have been near perfect every time I have played there. Great stretch of holes beginning at #9 and ending at #13. Also great finish at #18. Met, I believe it was Greg in the Pro Shop, and had a good time talking with him. Having trouble getting your slider ratings to turn green?

I've played Dunes once before in pouring rain: still loved it. I was glad to play it in better weather. Both times the course - from tee to green - was in excellent shape. Best greens I've ever putted on. Friendly, professional, efficient staff. Wish I could play it more often.

Pro shop employees couldn't have cared less if we were there (possibly because we weren't members). Course staff were fine, but nothing special. Doubt if we would play it again unless have new people in our group who wish to play it.

We always love the Dunes, and all of our group wants to play it on next year's trip. Premier course, in very good condition.

The staff was very nice and professional and the course was in great shape. The food at the guest restaurant was not very good, particularly for the price. Regardless of that, however, we absolutely loved Dunes Club and are planning to return there next year as well.

Nice course and in great shape. Loved hole #13, even saw a large gator swimming in the water. We tried to purchase bag tags but they had run out of them. Staff was kind, but the starter was not too friendly. I don't think he meant to, but he made us feel like we were invading a private club.

It was worth it and I will play here again. I'm already trying to get a spring outing with the guys for next year and I want to include The Dunes on the list of courses to play.

Course was aerified, however playable, thus fair. Challengin course. Great attention by Cindy at the pro shop, who was superbly cooperative! Look forward to playing the course next spring. I am planning to come over with my wife and children.

Course was in A+ condition and was a wonderful overall experience. Make sure your ego doesn't influence your choice of tees, as MOST greens are elevated and bunkered in front ... and FAST! At these prices a detailed yardage book needs to be in the cart to help on blind shots.

Great experience. The staff does a great job of taking care of you from when you arrive, getting you on the course and afterwards. The course was in great shape.

Our group really enjoyed this course. Obvious why it is ranked so high, it was in great shape and made you hit every club. Didn't know about the alternate hole ... but that didn't matter either. Would be nice if there was a caddy program available, but that is increasingly rare. The lady in the pro shop was extremely helpful and very nice. We didn't eat much, but the lady in the grill room was also very accommodating. The excellent rating for the fairways is only because I never really got on one, but they looked excellent from the rough and ponds and lakes where I was.

Greens were nice.

I was playing in the afternoon & the wind came up, so it made the course tougher. I don't normally play above a course slope of more than 130. The Dunes from the blue tees was 139. Beat me up, but I enjoyed it because every hole has its challenge. Like the 286 par 4.

By far the best greens I've putted on this winter. Rolling at least a 12 and very true. Absolutely beautiful, only wish it was warmer.

I have had a condo in MB for years and have not played this elite club because of the price. Apparently the club does not know that the nation is in a money crunch or they don't need the income? If they only lower the price some and permit some outside golfer access, the course would benefit to a much greater extent. Come on, Dunes, give it a try.

Favorite course in MB. Would have liked to have a drink afterward but the lounge was for members only. That, and we followed an individual watering greens by hand a number of holes making the greens seem inconsistent, were the only issues. The beauty of the course eclipsed anything else.

Greens had just been tended to, so they were very sandy. However, the ball rolled true. Nothing you can do about it, since courses must be taken care of. The staff allowed us a free replay due to the condition of the greens, got in 36 holes in 6.5 hours. Best staff in Myrtle Beach. Not incredibly long, but certainly difficult.

This is a great golf course. Greens were slow but rolled true.

The greens were absolutely terrible. I feel it is ridiculous when you pay close to $100 to play a course and have to putt through bare dirt and sand spots on the greens. The starter was very rude to me at the start of the round because I did not have my shirt tucked in my pants. Also, later in my party's round the same starter stood on the 15th green while we were chipping on and putting to tell us that we were scuffing the greens with our golf shoes. I asked him if he saw our party scuff the greens and his reply was no but that complaints were made by groups behind us so he wanted to follow us for a hole to see if we were the culprits. My party wanted to enjoy a great round of golf on our vacation but the Dunes Golf and Beach Club treated us very poorly and the green conditions were terrible. We will not play this course ever again.

Staff was very accommodating. Would like a GPS system. It was my first time playing the course and did not know exact yardage and watger locations.

The best, well-rounded, fair but challenging course I have played at the beach. The rough is a penalty due to the thickness, but yet short enough to easily find your ball. The people are great. A wonderful golfing experience.

Would have been a better pace if paired with the twosome in front of us.

Great course. Thoughtful layout, great condition. All good. My only complaint is that they should provide you with more info about the course. All I got was a scorecard and that didn't even show the hole layouts. This was especially confusing on the famous #13 Waterloo hole, which is very deceptive your first time through. Aside from that I loved it and look forward to playing it again.

Clubhouse and the service were outstanding.

Played Dunes on May 14th and it was in great shape as always. Although, pace of play wasn't great. We have been playing this course for 13 years and this year was by far the slowest round. Maybe the ranger took off that day. Advice would be to play it on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

A league of its own. I had played all of the other top 15 MB beach according to Golf Digest before playing Dunes in early July this year. We normally play in October and it is almost impossible to get a tee time and also very pricey. In July we got a tee time at a reasonable rate. It is classic design, tough but peaceful course, all the obstacles are there but no gimmicks or surprises. Be sure to putt well, but you are in for 4 hours of pure pleasure. The only low point would be the snobby lady behind the pro shop counter who seemed to smile at the members but visitors seemed to annoy her.

Commented on February 6, 2009: I have played the Dunes seven or eight times on trips to Myrtle Beach. The Dunes is and will always be my favorite place. The Dunes is a must on any trip!

Played June 20, 2008: Three groups from the staff at the Dunes stood out - the attendants meeting our group at 18 to clean our clubs and just have a friendly conversation, especially when they were about to watch the CEO and his 'friends' from Samsung Corp. tee off; the course marshals, always looking to help and inquire as to how our round was going; and the young lady at the grill/bar offering local knowledge of restaurants and pubs openly, and with a pleasant and friendly outlook. That's what the term 'Ambassador' is all about, and especially when you are the public's connection to any business.
