Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
Caledonia Golf and Fish Club, located in Pawleys Island just off U.S. 17, was built upon a former Lowcountry rice plantation that inhabited the southern portion of the Grand Strand.
Caledonia recently received an overall ranking of 8.7 from reviewers at Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, with even higher marks for its pristine fairways. Caledonia is nothing short of one of one of the best courses in all of the Carolinas, evidenced by it repeated recognition from several national publications. It has been named one of the “Top 100 You Can Play” by Golf Magazine and one of “America’s Top 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest, as well as earning honors from Golfweek as one of “America’s 100 Best Modern Courses.” The Mike Strantz design opened in 1994, and since then, it has continued to distinguish itself to players and golf professionals alike.
The creativity in the design transfers to the creativity necessary to play these 18 holes. Measuring at a less-than-intimidating 6,526 yards from the “Pintail” championship tees, Strantz put to work man-made elevation difference, natural grasses, oak trees, a winding canal and various other hazards to more than make up for the lack of sheer distance. The par-70 course has five par 3s and only three par 5s; however, one of its claims to fame is the ability to boast 18 signature holes. The par-3 No. 11, though, is something unlike any other. A slightly elevated tee box overlooks a winding creek and narrow approach to the green. Vast tree and plant life line both sides of the entire hole, which can play a club length or two longer depending on pin location. The 383-yard par-4 No. 18 then brings you home to an Antebellum-style clubhouse that would look its part in any number of movies set in the early 1800s. It pays homage to the course’s heritage.

Great course and layout. Very nice staff as well!

Very Good
Matt
Caledonia - another of my favorites - LOVE IT THERE.
Richard
Beautiful and scenic. nice conditions
Bill
Six greens had not recovered from winter kill . This ruined what should have been a great golf experience. There was no reduction in green fees. Call before you go. Greens this bad will take a good length of time to recover
Stephanie
One of the prettiest golf courses I’ve ever played on.
Karen
Beautiful place to play golf
Ray
beautiful setting, nice conditions will play again
Richard
Never disappoints, my favorite finishing hole in Myrtle Beach

Our group plays here every year, great experience, fun day
Steve
Great clubhouse, great course, good people. All good
Terry
Impressive golf course that cannot be missed if you are playing in or around Myrtle Beach. It was in the best condition of all coursed we played.
Russ
challenging, target golf.
William
First time playing Caledonia in quite some time. Beautiful design, great staff and conditions. Greens had a good pace to them. 18th hole is so much fun as people are watching your approach shot. Hope to play again soon
Peter
Beautiful design--my game didn't match but thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to playing sister course True Blue.
Raymond
Caledonia is one of my favorites, the view are amazing. Course also gives you a good chance to score well. Could play here everyday.
Jim
Always the best. Worth the extra fees. Round moved well, view and conditions good.
Brent
A little wet because of all of the rain, but this course never disappoints. Love the views and the layout, nice staff too
Casey
Excellent as always, one of the best places to play
Kevin
A little disappointed in overall conditions. Bunkers were in terrible shape. Rough was also a little inconsistent. Tee boxes were a mess as well. Fairways and greens were good.
Scott
Not as good as the last time. They sent us to their sister course for the driving range. We get there to be told the driving range was closed.
Fred
Great golf course, one of the best in Myrtle.
Bob
Not as pretty as usual (corona virus?) but still a treat.
Dennis
Course is in great shape and staff was awesome!
Bob
Best golf course at the beach, bar none. Beautiful and challenging.
Tim
Had heard a lot of good thing about this course. Didn’t meet expectations. How can one of the best courses in Myrtle Beach not have a driving range?? The greens were slow. Online it says tour conditions. Not!! The drive to the clubhouse and the layout of most all of the holes was georgeious. Had rained so no carts on the course made the gps useless.
Steven
Very nice...best in MB
Joan
A must play when you are in Myrtle Beach. After your round sit down in front porch over looking the 18th hole and enjoy a beverage of your choice.
Chris
Great course beautiful landscaping and a fun layout. The complimentary clam chowder hit the spot on a cool day.
Byron
As always, excellent service by friendly staff and delicious soups and sandwiches today .. All enjoyed on one of the prettiest porches on the Grand Strand.. Lots of fun watching golfers shots over the water to number 18 green .. Flowers were simply beautiful today .. Love to play Caledonia and always a treat to have lunch on the porch
John
Great course, enjoyed playing and look forward to playing again.
Rob
Course was in great condition. A must play when in Myrtle Beach.
John
Derek
One of my all-time favorite courses to play. Wonderful staff, Amazing layout with immaculate conditions. There really is nothing like Caledonia. A must play.
Barry
Beautiful course the back 9 is hard but it is definitely a course you should play.
Byron
Love this place! Always a relaxing setting and beautiful course!
Ryan
Amazing. From the club sandwich and service. Course was in great shape and picture perfect!!!
Jason
Hands down the best at MB. I've played all the top courses here and I like this one the best. The only drawback is the absence of a driving range.
Bill
The golf course was in great condition, the staff was awesome!! Cannot wait to play this course again.
Natalie
Fabulous! This was my 2nd time playing Caledonia. Beautiful course!
Mike
I actually thought Caledonia would be nore difficult, the course was pretty open and forgiving. I highly recommend playing a replay round at True Blue the sister course across the street.
Timothy
Just the beast course on the Strand. I like True Blue and the Dunes but Caledonia is a cut above them both.
Daniel
This is one of the best courses I've ever played in the Myrtle Beach area!
Jason
Amazing layout and great course!
Craig
Just a great golfing experience. Course was in excellent shape. Nothing beats the after round veranda hang.
Jeff
Top notch great conditions and visually stunning course. Played from the proper tees it is our groups favorite Myrtle Beach course.
Fast
Great condition, greens in great shape but slow in afternoon and pace of play was great but overall it's just not worth the $$$$$ price. With no driving range and a small chipping, putting area for that price thumbs down and there's so many courses in area that offer the same if not more and it's just a money grab in prime season.
Tom
Beautiful Course, Best course in Myrtle Beach area.
Bill
The Best in MB by far! Conditions outstanding and staff knows how to make you feel at Home.
Robert
My favorite Grand Strand course period. If it was in NJ I would belong. Eagled 7 and parred 18 which was wonderful
Brian
Enjoyed.
Joe
This is the best course in Myrtle Beach. Not sure why TPC is a 5 star course compared to this. Every hole has a unique character to it and I could play here everyday.
Markus
What a beauty! That course is a must to play. It was very well maintained, greens were great, fairways fantastic and the layout is just gorgeous. There's so many holes which are just stunning. It's a fair course but you need to be accurate, partially it's quite narrow. That place can be compared with a wonderfully designed park landscape. Staff was very friendly and helpful, replay is available. The approach shot on hole 18 is something special since the green is in front of the clubhouse patio and typically there's a number of spectators either cheering or booing (in a nice way :-) ). Restaurant food was great, staff very friendly.
Raymond
Well worth the drive from our accommodations in Myrtle Beach, a spectacular plantation style course with stunningly beautiful course architecture. The flora and fauna rival botanical gardens.
Tim
Wonderful course with many interesting holes.
Darren
This course is a joy to play. We decided to play it from the Tips & it was very playable for 5 handicappers from there (6,83 from the Tips). Conditions were close to perfect throughout. Greens ran at a good speed, only TPC's were quicker on this trip. It was our 2nd round of the day, as we played it's sister course True Blue in the morning. Fair deal on a Play it Again Deal. If you haven't played Caledonia before, treat yourself !!! There is no Practice Range at this course.
Michael
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were some of the best I've played on. A great plantation course with a lot of charm.
James
Beautiful course but greens fee pricing is getting way too high. Will probably be the last time I play it.
Byron
Have played course before..always like golfing there. And hitting into 18 is always challenging.
Wille
Best course on the Strand! All employees were as nice as anyone could expect! Took a group of 19 and we switched our last package day back to Caledonia for another round! This place was the highlight of our trip!
Karl
Could not have asked for a more perfect day of golf. It is a favorite of our group.
Lyle
Still just a great and challenging course. We love the 18th approach with the club house balcony overlooking it so we can cheer or boo our fellow golfers while enjoying and few drinks in the rocking chairs! Happy 20th Anniversary!!
Michael
Great.
Daniel
Best course I ever played.
John
One of the best courses I played in years.
David
Excellent.
Michel
Outstanding.
Walt
Great experience.
Ray
Excellent course in super condition. But at $160 a round will think twice about playing there again.
Kenneth
Great!
Lynda
Always in great shape and they make you feel so welcome. Great staff.
Derek
Great course. Weather was perfect, and conditions were very good. We played 5 courses around Pawleys/Murrells Inlet, and I would rank this as the best one; although I wouldn't sing the praises as loudly as some other reviewers. While the layout was great, I think Tobacco Road's may be a little better (also a Mike Stranz design), and at $164 pp the marginal benefit/marginal cost ratio wasn't that high. I think the best course we played when you take into account cost was Pawleys Plantation. Also a great layout (particularly some of the holes on the back 9) and great conditioning. If you don't want to spend $160+ to play Caledonia, take a look at PP.
Michael
Very good.
Bill
Excellent course, not long but challenging.
Scott
The nicest course that I think I have ever played, from the moment we drove up the lane way it was rich and inviting. The staff of the pro shop was inviting and engaging. As well the rest of the staff from the starter to the marshalls and the cart girl, all were helpful and great to work with. Cheers.
Mike
Should have had a yardage book but otherwise loved the course.
Scott
The course is beautiful and pristine, the only let down is # 9 especially if it's your last hole. I found myself on every hole standing on the tee and admiring the layout and beauty. It's the nicest course in Myrtle Beach and we all said we would play there every day.
Bill
Really good landscaping.
Sal
Best course I've played.
Kurt
5 Star.....a must play!!!!
Steve
Overall, the best of the best. Challenging and fun to play.
John
Great time.
Chris
Fantastic.
Donald
Good.
Steve
Great place!
Dennis
Always the favorite in Myrtle.
Rich
This course is the king of Myrtle Beach by far, however it is way overpriced. You can spend hours sitting on the porch overlooking 18 and watching golfers but their balls in the pond in front of the green. If the prices ever went down you could dusted off plug it in and run it around the clock. I guess they are satisfied with the modified number of rounds.
Bob
Always fantastic.
Todd
Great green layouts and surrounding areas.
Keith
Outstanding golf course in all aspects. Love the chowder.
Scott
Haven't played Caledonia since last year but this is just a spectacular golf course. Don't be fooled by the overall yardage on the score card. This has some very short par 3's and some very, very long par 4's from the whites. When the course is wet and soft, it plays very difficult for a par 70. The beauty of this course cannot be matched and the condition has always been perfect when I've played there. Green fees are a little tough for locals to play very often but very, very enjoyable when we do play.
Andy
Absolutely outstanding golf course. Everything about the Caledonia experience is fantastic. Played it every trip we have had to MB (4 times over from Scotland) and it just gets better. Great staff, great service and the course is a must play. Nice little eagle at 8th hole made it an even better day. Finishing hole is just superb.
Wayne
Great course. Cart path only due to 2 weeks of rain.
Julian
Great course!
Harry
Caledonia is an outstanding course and should be on everyone's list of must play courses. From the natural beauty, tremendous layout, playability, and friendly staff, this is the best of the 40+ courses I've played in the Myrtle Beach area.
Mike
Unfortunately it rained on us the entire round so it took some of the luster off of such a fantastic golf course. Despite that though everyone in our group still raved about the fantastic layout and overall eye appeal of the golf course. Just a fantastic golf course all the way around.
Gary
What's not to like about the best course in Myrtle Beach.
Mark
Caledonia is probably the nicest golf course I have ever played. The attention to detail in virtually every aspect of the course is amazing. It is a little disappointing that you have to go over to True Blue to use the driving range, but it is only a couple minutes so not that big of a deal. It has a great short-game practice facility however. What really made the course special for me was the landscaping, the gardens, the old trees and spanish moss and the course layout. Coming up 18 is truly special with all the gents on the deck watching you come up. Will definitely be recommending it to others folks in Toronto.
Tom
Fairways were way too long and soggy due to the rain and lack of cutting.
Norman
Very wet but got round in. Course employee actually had nerve to ask us if we should be playing white tees because we were more than a hole behind - nobody behind us for 2 holes. Cart path only takes more time to play, all of us in my group were 9 handicappers or better.
George
As always Caledonia is the best.
Tom
Love that each hole seems isolated from the other holes. It would have been nice to know that they do not have a driving range.
Ken
Spectacular.
Randy
Caledonia is a favorite of our group and we played it many times. The conditions were great and the staff was exceptional. The experience was worth the cost.
Brad
This course was my favourite in Pawleys Island of the 7 courses we played.
Bob
Great layout but was too wet in places due to heavy rain.
Bob
Fairways and greens were great for this time of the year.
Randall
Best course in the Myrtle Beach area.
Jefrrey
Still a top 5 course in all of the coastal area.
Brian
Excellent as always. From the drive in, to the bag drop, starter, bar we had excellent service. The course was in great shape. Had a great time.
Nick
This is a beauty
John
Greens were magnificent ...... Felt like I was playing Augusta ....... Ice cold towel at the end of the round .. Great touch
Chuck
The layout is great especially for us shorter hitters. also the landscaping is spectacular!
Art
Course is the prettiest layout we play in the area. In great shape even though recently aerated.
George
Too expensive
Joe
4th time we played the course & was very pleased.
Rick
Fantastic course, has to be the best in area. Only complaint, I do not understand why resort course without GPS.
Andrew
OK
Dave
Caledonia is one of our favourites. The white tees on certain holes were set up too short the day we played. But one of our players had a hole in one on ##11, so it was a great day.
John
Best course I have ever played. Everyone's favorite course in our group (20 guys).
Roy
Rain the day before kept greens from being mowed to customary standards. Tees could use an overseeding. Had a great day. Pro Shop superior selections. On the list every trip.
John
The staff in the grill told us it would only be a few minutes to get our order because we told them we had a tee time at True Blue. 20 minutes later we got our food and had to race to our next tee time.
Sam
Great track and in good condition but finishing on #9 is so disappointing. A course that charges that kind of money should only be played 1-18, especially when #18 is so great. Will only play if starting from the first tee.
Robert
We love this course. It also memorializes our annual trip because we get our picture taken here. It is also the site of my hole in one... so I remain hopeful. The chowder is a nice treat, too
Derek
I really enjoyed the challenging positioning and size of the sand traps
Stack
I was not aware that the driving range was located at True Blue and not at Caledonia.
Jamie
Not sure what you can do, but the last 3 years you can smell the bathroom from the pro shop.
Robert
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Andrew
Nice setup
Jim
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John
As to be expected, one of the nicest, if not the best, courses in Myrtle.
Lawrence
Phenomenal; playing ## 18 great; sitting on porch w/ beverage watching others play ##18 very entertaining!
Paul
This is one of the best courses i have palyed and i have played them all but two.
Glenn
The 18th hole and how there was an overlook or porch area for watching finishing groups.
Herb
Beautiful setting & great conditions. Loved the clam chowder at the turn.
John
Well worth the extra money compared to Legends
Gary
Really great
Lou
Wonderful!
Maynard
Tough course but fair
Ken
Interesting approach shots
Larry
The condition of this course was a major disappointment. Last year the condition was starting to go downhill and this year it was bad. I always considered this my favorite course but I don't need to play it again until the conditions really improve.
Gregory
Top notch all around. Caledonia is a must play for any golfer in the area. Beautiful course and a great round of golf for everyone in the group. Never disappoints
Ed
This is one of the two best golf courses that I have ever played during my 50 years of playing golf and I'm now only 154 rounds short of 10,000 rounds. I do have one complaint. Being 68 yrs. old and choosing to play the Sr. tees because my drives usually travel 185 yds. air time(max. 200 yds. occasionally), I could not reach 5-6 holes in regulation. And the wet conditions didn't help my total yardage. No ranger on the course as the other cart in my group drove down every fairway while following the cart path only rules I was totally fatigued after the round. I shot 82 and made not one putt over 6 feet, so I was happy with my score considering the conditions. Really upset at the price of a cup of coffee - $2.25 is ludicrous. Every avid golfer that visits M.B. should play this course at least one time. The visual appeal even outweighs the high quality of the golf course. This is Mike Strantz best course design.
Grady
Exceptional
Pat
Greens are tough not very flat. One of the best courses to play. Little expensive but worth it.
Frank
We rate Caledonia ...the best in Myrtle Beach. We have played there for a number years.
Robert
We were at this Super golf course for the second time on the 20-10-2113. It is a must for any golfer. A one off the best for the course we played 5 years ago and wanted to replay this year. Also you have a chance to eat a SUPER CHOWDER and see GATORS. ROBERT and ARMAND two QUEBECERS. Our rank 9.99999
Todd
Absolutely a great golf experience from the beginning to the end.
Gary
Top 5 course in Myrtle Beach area.
Clay
Awesome, interesting golf course, will play this one again-one tip, the cart attendant should just start cleaning the clubs, not ASK if I want them cleaned. I will ALWAYS tip a guy for that service, but this guy talked himself right out of a tip by asking me-no range was a big negative, offer a shuttle service to True Blue..and how many starters need to ask me the name of my group...I was asked 5 times, really?
Bob
Enjoyed the layout of the course & the condition
Chris
Can't go wrong with Caledonia. Played it 3 times now, most recently October 2012. It is certainly one of the most beautiful courses around. But i am not as high on it as most are and i will admit that is mostly due to the short nature of the course. I hit a long ball and prefer hitting the driver off par 4 & 5 tees. Even from the back tees at Caledonia that is tough. Another negative for me is no driving range. And of course the goofy par 3 9th. But the beauty, hole #18, the clubhouse and specifically the rocking chairs on the porch overlooking 18 definitly make this a must-play course, but just outside my personal top 5 (Dunes, Tidewater, True Blue, Tigers Eye, Barefoot).
Mike
I was very disappointed with the attitude of the rangers on the golf course. They were very rude to members of our group when we did not purchase a plaque that they took our picture for (a few members of the group did purchse the plaque). He thought that all 40 people should have bought the plaque, guess it didn't matter that we spent 4,000 there that day. He also told a group in front of us, that they should give up golf and play piddley winks if they couldn't play the course in 4 hours. I understand it is a rangers job to keep the group moving, but there is also a way to do this in a customer service oriented manner. It is a shame, Caledonia was definately one of the nicer courses we played, but due to the poor customer service we received, I doubt I will ever go back there. I'm also recommending most of my golf buddies who take trips to avoid this course as well.
Michael
Love golfing here. probably our favorite course. in rotation every year
James
Love the course and the condition. No complaints with anything.
Nelson
This was our favorite course...
Tom
Greens were slooooooow!!! Needed mowing and rolling!
Mark
Course was very nice, but not worth the price. Starters were incompetent and had trouble directing golfers to the right place. Rangers were rude and obnoxious. Play was very slow to too much cart path only. NO other course we played had this restriction.
Gary
Likely the best course in the area. It was a treat to play but the 9th hole is a bit weak and not a good finishing hole when you start play on the 10th tee.
Ralph
Really felt that the staff cared about our experience at Caledonia, they were very friendly and courteous. The golf course was well maintained with many challenges regardless which tee boxes were being used.
Dave
Starter was rude, condescending, and had little patience with our group which is called the Hackers. This gentleman should be working in the cart barn washing carts and kept far away from customer contact respon-sibilities. Whether he realizes or not there are other golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area that can be selected. I will not recommend this course to friends and our group will never come back. Nice course, but expensive and with staff like the starter/ranger we had, it is unlikely you will continue your very favorable rating as an elite golf course on the grand strand.
Bruce
The rangers out on the course, an older man, told us to speed up play. He also told us that if we couldn't play the course in 4 1/2 hours, we should pick something else to do. I have never been treated so rude. I will never play, nor recommend, Caledonia, again.
Kent
Love it!!!
Gary
Caledonia very nice course I love playing there.
Larry
As our group gets older we all wish there were tees around 6000 yds. 600 yds is too much difference between white and senior tees. This applies to all our courses we played. Thanks.
Jim
This course is always in great shape but this trip it was exceptional! Greens are the best in South Carolina. Exceptional staff, outstanding day of golf!
Sidney
The best in Myrtle Beach
Terry
Beautiful course that is a must play for my group. Even liked the alligator sunning in the trap.
Dan
Our favorite course
Peter
NA
Brad
Grill is slow. Mix up on tee time led to a lot of rushing
Bob
Nice course. Would have liked a replay but staff was not accommodating to replay
Rod
Beautiful shrubs and flowers and general course layout.
Michael
Starter was excellent. Being asked if we were happy with pace of play on course was a nice touch. Overall an excellent day with great memories.
Neil
My group loves playing Caledonia, we make it a mainstay every year.
Mike
Starter was very crusty & cursed about the groups being disorganized Very rude! The rest of the staff & facility were very nice!
Todd
Some of the best bermuda greens you'll play !
David
This is the best course in the area.....bar none. Do not miss this. It is stunning. Great condition all round and well worth the money.
Brian
The all around appearance of the course is what makes it special. And the fact that a tropical storm had just passed through and caused no course issues shows the strength of your maintance group.
Denis
Perfect golf course
Jamie
Good course, great greens
Dan
Awesome place
Joe
Gorgeous course nicest course in myrtle fast greens
Kelly
Terrific
Demar
Best place to play on the south beach though alot of the bunkers were washed out and not recently manicured due to recent rains
Ray
Sand traps were in terrible shape. They had heavy rains prior to us playing, but some of the damage appeared to be there previously. Other than that, always a great course to play.
Darren
Been on my Bucket List for years. Been to Myrtle 8-10 times now, & finally played it today. Even in very windy conditions it was a real treat. This course is simply AMAZING!!!! By far the BEST greens I've played in Myrtle ever, & probably the BEST course I ever played. Fairways, rough, tees & staff were all exemplary !!! We will definitely be back :)
Wallace
This is the premiere course we play on a four day golf trip Each year. Traps are pitiful. It's bad enough To just be in one, but the lack of upkeep does not fit your rating. Which you Would have senior tees. I know the course is tight. Combine the blue and white tees. We seniors should be upfront for many reasons and do Not get a fair shake when competing with younger guys. Some day you will have this issue. Make the change.
Ira
A Sunday at Myrtle Beach would not be the same without playing the CREAM OF THE CROP Caledonia. THIS IS our favorite course of all. GREAT HOLES, GREAT LAYOUT, FUN TO PLAY, CHALLENGING YET SCORABLE, and the landscaping is beautiful!! Finish it off with the 18th hole and what a day!!! Also you MUST have LUNCH there and go for the LOBSTER BISQUE SOUP - sit out on the porch and watch as everyone tries to hit over the water and par 18....
Phil
OVERALL.........VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE FROM THE STAFF TO THE COURSE CONDITI0N.
Craig
One of the best golf experiences you can have. A must play. The only course we repeat every year on our trip.
Jeff
Not good
Ron
We have played Caledonia since it first opened. As always the course was in excellent condition. This is our favorite course in Myrtle Beach without question.
Jimmy
Favorite course on the Grand Strand. Excellent condition. Greens in perfect shape.
Herb
Beautiful facility, great conditions, friendly staff & great grill room. Liked the 18th green right in front of clubhouse. Thought the greens were a bit slow. Overall very playable course, really enjoyed the experience.
Kurt
Most beautiful course in MB area. I don't like the charity request every time you play the 3rd hole. it is distracting to the round. Ask for the donation when you check in at pro shop.
Edmund
Love the Chouder at the turn
James
Still the best course in the Myrtle Beach area! Have played it every year for the 14 and it never disappoints!
Greg
Sand when wet is very heavy and to penetrate. course well marked and played well
Lawrence
Very nice layout but course was not in great condition. Also a little short taking driver out of hand on too many holes. Staff rushed us to tee off 30 minutes early so we didn't have a chance to warm up. Not very good practice facility Was very poor value for price paid. Heritage, Tradition and River Clubs in much better condition.
Ernie
Unable to take carts to our auto in the parking lot was a negative
Martin
One of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever seen
Bill
This is one of the best golf courses you will play. Great conditions, great lay out, and great hospitality.
Carter
Excellent. Greens rolling very true! Beautiful course!
Gary
Favorite course in MB. Conditions excellent, people very professional.
Mark
Very challenging and interesting course. One hole was not up to the standards of the other 17. It is a par 4, dogleg left, slightly downhill with a large tree at the dogleg. The narrow green is elevated, surrounded by a very deep horseshoe-shaped bunker. The hole is difficult, which is fine, but it is a hokey design that slows play as golfers criss-cross the green with their bunker shots.
Tom
Great layout. No two holes the same. Had to use all clubs. Greens a bit bumpy-but it's March! The seafood chowder at the first tee was a winner on a cool day!
Mark
Course plays as advertised. The drive into the course sets the tone for the day amazing. This layout is amazing especially the 18th..Will put this on the list to play next year.
David
Great course , great conditions, great views , greens were fast and true
Randy
The BEST that money can buy along the Grand Strand.
Jim
I have been playing in Myrtle for 30 years and always avoided because of pricing, forget about the price a must play one of the best in the country bar none thank you.
Jim
Always one of our favorites.
Dave
Really enjoyed playing this course.
Brad
Probably my favorite course in Myrtle Beach.
Kenneth
The BEST GREENS I have ever rolled a ball on. If the course had a driving range and a friendlier starter I would say it is hard to beat. We felt rushed because the starter kept pushing us to tee off 45 minutes before our tee time even though we weren't ready.
Eddie
This course is outstanding. This is a very playable course for low to high handicappers because of the wide open fairways. The fairways, greens, and tees were in perfect shape. The course is total eye candy from the time you make the drive up the entrance. I would recommend this course to anyone and feel confident they will enjoy their round.
Richard
Great course in great condition.
Carl
My favorite course of the week. Every hole seemed like a Kodak moment. Starter and marshalls were friendly. Liked all the holes but 18 is definitely a great finishing hole. Caledonia is on my must play list every time I come to Myrtle Beach.
Dennis
Very playable course that will not beat up most golfers. Well maintained. Good warm up course at the start of your trip or a way to finish the trip with confidence in your game. Can be a really relaxing round of golf.
Bob
18 is a great finishing hole. This has been our favorite course for 10 years.
Rod
My favorite course in Myrtle Beach.
David
Friendly staff, beautiful layout.
Denis
Superb golf course, we have rain on back nine. 2nd time played, all partners love it.
Stan
Overall setting is spectacular!
H.
This course has been on my bucket list for years and being able to finally get there and play was a real treat. The course lived up to its reputation. I have played Harbor Town several times and I think Caledonia is equal to it, if not better. The 18th hole is a priceless treasure. Sitting there on the porch, enjoying a libation and watching other players hit over the water was just a perfect way to end our trip.
Mark
Aesthetically the most beautiful course in Myrtle. Course design requires using all clubs in bag. Not long so would recommend longer hitters play back. Overpriced given nearby Heritage and True Blue are equivalent courses from a pure golf perspective. Michelle in the Grill provided excellent service as well as being very attractive.
Michael
Caledonia is a course which has been in our sights since the last time we visited, and we greatly enjoyed the golf experience, especially the last hole. Upon arrival at the clubhouse, we had a very entertaining opportunity to sit on the veranda overlooking the 18th, and to share friendly conversation with those who were there as well as we watched the various foursomes complete their rounds. Overall, a great golf experience!
Ron
One waitress/bartender was snooty and condescending.
Ron
Best course in MB. Play it every year and it is always fabulous.
Bill
Great track.
Allen
GREAT golf course. Had to play it twice in 4 days!
Bob
One of our favorite courses. They should redo number 9. It doesn't fit with the course. We will be back.
Paul
We loved it.
Stephen
The absolute best that Myrtle Beach has to offer. Condition was exceptional and the layout is world class. Make sure to eat at the clubhouse grill, one of the best in MB.
Barry
Excellent experience.
Kyle
The spots you had to land your shots was too damn small! Bet you hadn't heard that before! Ha!
Mark
Perfect course to spend the day.
Joe
One of my favorite courses, just driving into the course reminds you of Augusta. A must-play.
Scott
Most excellent course.
Gary
There were way too many maintenance people on this course that did not make it a very enjoyable round. Always carts in motion. Bunkers were very inconsistent. Some great and some not filled with sand/hard. Disappointed this time with Caledonia.
David
Can't wait to play it again.
Thomas
Beautiful course. Great experience. The area had received 15 plus inches of rain in August, necessitating cart path only. One of our party has had two hip replacements, so it was a lot of walking. I would enjoy a score card that illustrates each of the holes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very nice grill with great service.
Barb
This course was just excellent...enjoyed it very much.
Tommy
The entrance to the facility is the most beautiful I have ever seen. I can't remember any specific hole that stood out. They were all very nice.
Patrick
Gorgeous course and setting. Course is immaculately maintained. Great variety of holes. One of my favorites in MB. Nice selection or merchandise in pro shop and food in the grill room was good as well.
Tom
Caledonia is one of my favorite East Coast courses.
Daniel
Caledonia is just a special place. I've been lucky to have played some of the world's nicest courses, but still, nothing can compare to the feeling I get while playing Caledonia. This time around, the greens were some of the nicest I've ever putted on. Also, the pin placements were in just about the most difficult locations, which made for a difficult, but still fun round. Don't change a thing. This is one of the best golf courses in the world. You'll be hard pressed to find a better stretch of holes than #'s 7-12 at Caledonia.
Mark
Played here 7/30 and absolutely loved the course. Only got 8 holes in because of heavy rain but couldn't find one thing wrong with the course. I'm a big Strantz fan and found this slightly different then Tobacco Road or Tot Hill. The staff was great with our rain checks and showing us updates on the rain. We're coming back next year to replay since we didn't have time to replay this year. All of the people in our group were in awe of the course. Since we started on the back 9 and only played 8 I missed out on playing the 18th hole which was a beautiful design. Can't wait to play it next year.
Matt
Always a gem, best course in Myrtle Beach. Tee to green conditions were incredible. The greens were perfect, fast, rolled true. Very challenging, very beautiful. This is as good as it gets!
Christine
Caledonia is absolutely beautiful, challenging and puts any private course around here to shame ... 2nd time we played it and it's still our favorite of all courses played! Not impressed with the pro shop ... never a good inventory of golf clothes for women and the staff could be friendlier ... actually the staff even in the pub could be friendlier ... not much personality ... the starter was pleasant and the attendant at the bag drop was very polite ... asked him to clean my clubs and did a great job ... maybe he was impressed with my tip which I'm sure is hard to come by ... my suggestion is to have some service training!
Scott
Would have liked to know that there is no driving range to warm up. A towel would have been nice based on greens fee and caliber of course.
Greg
One of the most beautiful courses I have ever played. In great shape although greens were still a little bumpy due to punching a few weeks back. Each hole is charming and challenging, some large undulating greens make it lots of fun. Giant oak trees line the course for lots of shade and I needed it as it was 108 degrees. If you are going by yourself (as I did) confirm you can play with someone. More fun that way. Well worth the $$$$ for a great day at a course they call little Augusta.
Nander
Ranger kept pushing us even when we were within the 4.5 hour rate. They had a tournament scheduled and needed more carts. Not my fault, don't rush me because of poor scheduling and course management.
Jim
Outstanding experience.
Ray
VERY OVERRATED for the price. No GPS, NO Driving range. In good shape. So many other nice places to play.
Harry
Best course every year. Conditions are perfect. A course appealing with great landscaping on ever hole. Alligators are seen every year. Course just took another increase in rate though, and will have to consider if I can keep a golf package with this on it within my group's budget.
Van
Favorite course in Myrtle Beach.
Brandon
Beautiful course in a great setting. Really stood out from the other courses.
Richard
Very good golf experience.
Todd
Played here 10 or so times. Brought some friends from Atlanta and had one of the best golf experiences that we have had. Outstanding.
Anthony
There was no GPS on the golf carts, no towels given on the golf cart, no water to be had.
Chris
Hands-down the most beautiful course in the Grand Strand. If you're looking for a memorable golf experience, this is the place.
Eldon
(Liked the) overall condition of the course. Made the day very enjoyable.
Robert
The course is gorgeous, reasonably challenging and fun to play.
Dan
Fairways had many unrepaired/unsanded divots. For the amount charged, they should provide a yardage book. Starter was rude and never told our foursome we were starting on #10. We would have liked to have known there was no driving range.
Joe
One of the most enjoyable courses I've ever played. The overall condition of the course was second to none.
Richard
Our group always returns to this gem! Unfortunately this year we were rained out at hole #13. We will be back in 2013.
Scott
Favorite course.
Bill
Our group has been coming to Caledonia for the last 30 years. It is the closest we will ever get to Augusta and probably the closet to heaven until we actually get there.
Peter
Phenomenal course! Beautifully manicured. Greens were spectacular ... fast and true! Tough track but a must-play when in Myrtle Beach. The only drawback were the tee boxes ... they weren't cut the day we played.
Greg
It is one of the greatest courses we have played ever.
Joe
Caledonia is the best of the best in MB. Play it every year and played it twice this year. For sure my favorite course for condition, playability and beauty ...
James
Excellent all around.
Tom
We enjoyed our round here very much.
Dean
Our tee time was at 12:30 p.m., but they wouldn't let anyone hit balls on the practice range until about 11:45 a.m. They should prepare those practice areas the night before, especially for those who are teeing off early in the morning. Heard several people complain about this.
JP
This course only gets away with what they charge because the conditioning used to be superior to any other area course and better than 90% of the private courses I've played. This time the conditioning was only average and while it's a nice layout it's not spectacular. In current condition it's way overpriced.
Jerry
Picture was taken of our group and framed.
Lawrence
Diverse layout with multiple hazards that make you think about your shot. I would have liked to know ahead of time that I could have booked a much less expensive tee time.
Dan-o
Caledonia's natural beauty is unsurpassed in the region. Always a most pleasant experience. The architect utilized the natural terrain and river vistas to the best advantage, challenging but fair.
Wes
Best course I have played.
Tom
The course was a pleasure too play. Challenging but fair. Great condition for late December. Starter was most hospitable. Our favorite course.
Paul
Played the course on 12/1 for the first time and it was everything we could ever ask for in a golf course. The greens and conditioning were spectacular for December, and the course and service were far and away better then anything else we experienced for the 4 days we were there. I wish we could have played it everyday.
Richard
The most beautiful golf course in the Myrtle Beach area.
Marty
Hole #18 is fantastic! My group plays Caledonia every fall and four other courses.
Bob
Gorgeous setting.
Steve
Beautiful, old south, well laid out, playable for all levels.
Bill
This is a facility that lacks customer understanding. They are great at arrogance and disdain, but too stupid to know people are smarter than they assume. We will not return.
Dan
Would've like to have known it was going to be cart path only & that the chowder house was closed. Greens in great condition. Tees & fairways were a little shaggy, but we understood that they were trying to grow the grass.
Pete
I loved the way the course was laid out. It feels like you and your buddies are on your own private course while you are playing. This is also a visually magnificent looking course. I will definitely come back to play and re-play it again.
Jean-Paul
The best course I played.
Carl
You make me feel like I am a the most important person there. First-class treatment.
Stephen
The best I've ever played! Don't change a thing.
Garie
Excellent variety of holes. Great layout as the course is set up so that you are usually secluded from the other holes from the one you are playing. This makes you feel like you are the only one one the course, which I love. Visually stunning course.
Roy
Favorite holes. Would like to have known there was no driving range.
Mark
Outstanding ... Best course of the 6 we played.
Mary
My #1 golf course in the MB area.
Robert
For the money, I would expect carts with GPS or complimentary course yardage books.
Dennis
Always a favorite.
Alain
Awesome, quiet, peaceful, almost religious experience. Subtlely manicured course.
Dave
Staff was friendly and amazing. Course was challenging and in great shape.
Kent
Loved the slick greens.
Curtis
Considering the fact that it was cart paths only due to the weather the course was excellent and one that we will play again.
Richard
My favorite course in the area. Love the natural setting and Southern feel. Great golf holes too. Only disappointment was they had our whole group teeing off on #10 vs. #1 to start.
Brad
Greens were slow.
Paul
Best course in Myrtle Beach - all around great experience.
Scott
Great course, by far the prettiest.
Scott
The attendants at the bag drop and the starter were great. (The grill room staff was overwhelmed by the Sunday crowd, so we didn't get lunch) the attention to detail on the course is obvious - very picturesque. Favourite holes with 13 / 14. Great day.
Ron
Great golf course - hard, but a great place to play.
Jim
A beautiful golf course. Would play it every day if I could afford it! As a local they have priced themselves out of the market.
Eugene
Beautiful course; fast greens; snack bar is limited.
Kip
Enjoyed my round thoroughly in spite of my poor score but that's my fault.
Richard
Caledonia is in an elite category, from the practice set-up (but no driving range), to the tees, fairways and greens. My two sons-in-law and I agreed that this was the best conditioned course we had ever played. It was the day before Hurricane Irene was to go by, so the course was relatively empty, which made this a bigger treat.
Joseph
Fun, fair track. Not fond of #9 and #18.
Paul
Just an excellent golf course, too many great holes to pick a favorite, but really like coming in on number 18 over the water with the clubhouse in the background.
Fred
Love the setting, grand old southern style club house and Spanish oak-lined entrance make this a unique experience. Course is in excellent shape and offers a good challenge to the average golfer, yet gives them plenty of opportunity to score well on every hole. My only knock on it is that they don't have a range to warm up before your round.
Derek
Just beautiful. May be the best course I've ever played on.
Grace
Always enjoyed playing.
Mike
The most beautiful golf course I have ever played. Mike Strantz is a fantastic designer. The conditions were A-1.
John
The rental clubs are not worth the price they charge. $45 for a set of old King Cobras and a putter that belongs on a miniature putt-putt course. The vintage Bull's Eye putter must be a running joke with the staff. Just checked, you can pick up a vintage Bull's Eye putter on Ebay for $7.50. I'm sure it was a nice putter 30 years ago.
Joe
Played it 6/15 and was in EXCELLENT shape. This is the eye candy of the Strand, however the layout is mediocre. Love the little bridge leading to the tee box on 14.
Joe
Fabulous course, best on the Strand. Played on 6/14 and it was in perfect shape. It's a little pricey but well worth it. They usually have an afternoon rate in the summer but it hasn't kicked in yet. It was cart path only which is always a little annoying, but the course more than made up for it. Tough greens to read in spots, bring your A-game. Oh, and watch out for the gators!
Michael
We played early on Sunday, June 6th and the sprinklers had accidentally been left on all night. This made the course nice and soft but we had to keep the carts on path only until 10 a.m. Still, this is my favorite course and we have decided to make it a permanent part of our yearly rotation.
William
Love the course. Always make it a point to play Caledonia and True Blue.
Harry
On the list every year.
Dominic
This course is awesome and is the best in Myrtle Beach. Love playing it.
James
May be the best course in Myrtle Beach. Greens are difficult to read and some are very undulating.
John
Beautiful course in great condition. Would like to have known about the many gators on the course before hand. One of the prettiest courses I've played.
Frank
This is my 5th year in a row at Caledonia. It is a super layout and each hole is unique. I feel it would be a better course if some of the bunkers were eliminated. The design makes it a challenge alone and it does not need all those bunkers.
Joe
First time I have played Caledonia. Great experience.
Randall
Excellent setting.
George
Overall an absolutely beautiful place to play golf. Not a bad hole on the course!
Joe
As good if not better than everyone said it is! A must-play!
Steven
No driving range.
Bill
A little difficult since it was the first time to play it but the course was excellent.
Dave
Course in very good conditions - greens were a challenge, a little over priced.
James
Lack of a driving range is the reason we won't go back.
Jon
Pro shop staff very accommodating and helpful. The course was in great shape with excellent greens. #18 a fun hole. One of my favorite courses on this trip.
Gary
Our group comes back every year in spite of the drive time and high greens fee because we feel it is worth it.
Steve
A very beautiful course and great test of golf.
Joe
Starter was extremely rude. Our second foursome was lost and he threatened to not let them out. Course was great although lots of debris on course from incoming storm. Large amount of leaves on greens blowing around. Foursome ahead of us was extremely slow and was only approached once by a ranger. Cart girl was non-existent. Saw her once on the first tee and then at the turn (at the food stop!). Greens extremely fast.
Jeff
Natural beauty beyond compare, environmentally sensitive, gorgeous views and playability, greens are tough, relatively small and undulating and tough to get at but a stern test.
Charles
Gorgeous design, with a lot of diversity of holes, enjoyable to play.
Serge
Very nice course with plenty of flowers. We will certainly play it again.
Nick
Fantastic golf experience.
Warren
Best course in Myrtle Beach. Great fairway and greens. Layout is great. Don't like the cart-path-only on #1 and #18.
Barron
Unfortunately, the course was very very wet due to a heavy rain the night before.
Anthony
(Liked the) par 3s.
D.J.
We had an unbelievable time at Caledonia. The course was in great condition. The flowers were in full bloom, the gators were out catching sun.
Lynn
Everything just beautiful. Will play every year.
Walter
Overall good condition.
Sandy
Too expensive but great track; one of my favorite courses on the planet.
Ron
The course was fantastic from condition to service! My only disappointment was having to start on the back nine rather then the front as I found the back far more difficult then the front. I needed the front to get the blood going so felt I would have scored better. I'm never a fan of starting on the back as I know designers set up a course for a reason.
John
My favorite course - country club feel.
Mark
Just an exceptional experience.
Jeff
I think they need to really discount the second rounds.
Bill
We love this course! There was just one guy in the pro shop who wasn't very kind. The grill was great if you could order early enough. They closed too early, like between 2 & 3 p.m., and some of us couldn't eat before our afternoon round.
James
I liked all but the short par 4 on the front, where your approach is to a small green surrounded by sand ... not a fair hole for most of us who are not low handicappers ... I doubt that we will play this course again.
Hank
One of my favorite courses at the beach. A little short but makes you hit it straight and control your game.
Jack
Well-designed course.
Brad
Caledonia is always our favorite course. We love everything about it. The layout is playable and beautiful. The course is always in great shape.
Jim
Beautiful landscaping, imaginative design.
Deborah
The course was cart path only on the day we played, so sometimes difficult to know the yardage as most yardage is only marked in the fairways. Overall, one of the nicest courses we have played - very fair for players of all handicaps.
Jose
Good experience. Yardage markers could be better. GPS in the carts would be great.
Mike
Should provide towels for golfers.
Robert
Great course, great shape.
Larry
This is our second year to play this course and we like it so much we already plan to play it next year.
Ann
Beautiful course, friendly staff. Loved every minute of it. Will play there every time! We were all anxious to play it again now that we know what to expect. It was a great golf experience. We have had several people recommend this course to us and now we know why!
Dennis
Everything was outstanding.
John
Beautiful course, too many starters at first tee time, picture taking was off-putting.
Tom
Great course with great character, a course you would not mind playing every day!
Marlene
We play this course every year on vacation. It's the favorite of our whole family. Wish I could play #18 better so I could get cheers from the peanut gallery!
Gary
Best and most beautiful course we played by far!
Richard
Caledonia is the most aesthetically pleasing golf course I have ever played. Thank you for running a fine, fine course. Only fly in the ointment was the condition of some of the bunkers, often mostly mud; we attributed that to your recent deluge.
Howard
People are excellent. Course condition average.
Owen
Disappointed that you choose to show the incorrect total yardage for each set of tees. That is fraudulent, really, as we do not get what is expected for our fees.
John
Great course in great shape.
John
The layout and conditions of Caledonia make it the overwhelming favorite of our group. It's truly the jewel of Myrtle Beach golf.
Douglas
Wonderful course. Great layout and the course was in wonderful shape.
Kelly
Great course; my second favorite in the Myrtle Beach area.
Rich
This course has a great layout with first-class conditions, but for Myrtle Beach it is way overpriced (3 times the normal MB course rate!) ... There are courses in MB that do compare for much, much less $. Furthermore, the course is in the middle of nowhere ...
Arthur
It has been our favorite course in Myrtle Beach since we have been coming to the area - the layout and conditions are perfect.
Bob
Rough was way too high.
Gerald
... next to Pebble and Sawgrass, my favorite place to play ... the entrance alone is worth the price of admission.
Bill
What a layout. Our favorite course in the Myrtle Beach area!! Ranger a bit overzealous.
Steve
(Liked the) layout and beauty.
Brady
(Liked the) beauty of the place - the fun in the course.
Carol
Absolutely the most beautiful course we have ever played. Thank you Mr. Strantz. Very wet but quite a treat.
Frank
Always enjoy playing Caledonia. Greens were great. The 9th hole needs to be spruced up to make it slightly more challenging. Attendents cleaned the clubs and placed them in my car.
Nick
Great golf course, we will be returning again next year. Caledonia and TPC are both superior to others in the area.
Michael
One of the better courses I have played on,
Mike
My favorite course in the Myrtle Beach area. Beautiful old trees. Always in great shape.
Bob
Course condition was good, nice layout.
Janice
Would like to see more women items in the pro shop.
Mary
Facilty is beautiful and the greens and fairways too. Loved the layout of the course.
Richard
Great condition. Challenging but fair.
Rob
The drive into the course is the best in Myrtle, the course is well maintained and the layout is spectacular. All staff that we encountered were helpful, courteous, professional and available. The clubhouse is a true gem. All want to play again.
Tom
Very enjoyable, would go back.
Brett
I've read all the hype about Caledonia and finally got to play it on 5/28. The greens were the best I played all week. The fairways were plush and there is a lot of pretty scenery. I think that the layout is OK. I go on the contrary to many people and think that its sister course True Blue is an all-around better golf course. The only hole on this course that seems like it doesn't belong here is the 9th hole. Aside from the pretty flowers they were planting on the tee box, it's a 110 yard par 3 with eye-soring bunkers in front of the green. I may be nit-picking here, but it was very relevant because it was our finishing hole since we teed off 10.
Bix
Everything was great.
Bill
Course always in fantastic condition; great layout.
Brandon
Course was beautiful as always (played on May 16th). Greens are always a little funky but the rest of the course makes up for it. Have been playing this course every year since 1995 and it gets better every year.
Paul
Course was in great shape as always.
Phil
Always enjoy this course although the score did not indicate as such for this round.
Sean
An excellent experience. The course was in fabulous condition, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One of the best courses I have ever played and am likely to play. Many thanks.
Ray
One of the prettier courses in MB. Lots of sand on the back nine.
Alvin
I don't like this course. Course officials are always telling us to hurry up, even when we have to wait on the groups in front of us. My vote is to never go back.
Ben
This was the best course we have played in MB over the past 5 years.
Bill
Best public course in the U.S.
Jack
(We liked) the condition of the course and the layout in general. A challenging but fair course. We play it every year!!
Brad
Excellent course. Would have liked to see more sand in the bunkers (or at least the sand that was in them raked - the sand was tamped down by rain or watering).
Herbert
One of my favorite courses in the Carolinas.
Phil
Interesting layout. challenging but not overly difficult. Best scenery of all courses played.
Roger
Beautiful, well maintained course; sand in traps was not good - packed down - more like playing from hardpan than sand; had issue with ranger on pace of play - made our first group drop in fairway on their 3rd and 4th holes without teeing off, did not give them a warning and ask them to catch up - they were behind but that's no way to treat someone who's paying $199.
Gary
The service, course conditions and layout make us willing to pay the price and come back each year. I wish we wouldn't be hassled about playing time when there really aren't that many people on the course or if a group is not holding up the group behind them.
Dave
I have brought a group of 12 - 16 to Myrtle Beach for the last 10 years and we play Caledonia at least once every year and it is by far our favorite.
John
Caledonia has the most beautiful eighteen holes in my playing experience. Some courses I have played may have some holes that are nore beautiful but none can match the beauty of the whole eighteen at Caledonia.
Mike
I have played Caledonia several times and have never been disappointed. Great course. I'm returning for this year's World Am Tour and hope I get to play your course again while there.
Rick
Caledonia was an awesome experience. I guess we hit this course at the right time of year. I could play this course over and over. Lots of water that really makes you think twice of your club selection. This course is one that I will never forget. We couldn't help but to play another round after our first 18 holes. After we finished I walked around and took some more pictures.
Nicholas
Love the golf course - very playable for the average player.
Jim
Best course ever!
Frederick
Superb! Will play every time in Myrtle Beach. Great condition, staff, grill room, aesthetics, layout.
Gilbert
Beautiful layout and condition. This and TPC our favorite courses. Porch off 18th is unique and fun. Grill is great. All in all a tremendous experience.
John
Played here last 10 years...Love it. Pro shop staff could be a bit more friendly and less robotic. Course in great shape!
Tim
Caledonia is beautiful, the wildlife wonderful, the golf was great and lots of different looks.
Hank
Great shape and unique holes made it challenging and fair.
Edmund
Cart path only was unnecessary! There was only one or two holes that needed it.
Jerry
Holes 9, 10, 11, 17 & 18 are most memorable and always fun to play. Course was in great shape for mid-March.
S.
Caledonia was a treat to play. We played this course on our last day.
Stephen
It's a nice course that our group likes to play every year. They should add GPS units to the carts instead of renting a handheld unit for $10.
Grant
Everything was what we expected.
Mick
Nice course and a fun layout. Greens and fairways were good. Tee boxes and traps were a little rough. Skip the hot dogs in the half-way house.
Bill
The overall condition of this course was great. By far the best of all we played. This was everyone's favorite course. We will play this one again next year.
John
We had a 1.5-hour frost delay but the experience was great. I wish we came down later in March to witness the flowers blooming and the fairways green.
John
Really nice course - sign me up again!
Payton34ever
Without question Caledonia is a premier, first-class, 5-star golf course in all aspects. If given the chance, this is a must-play golf course and one you will never forget after playing - but take a few pictures to show off and remember. Doesn't get any better on the Grand Strand, let alone the country.
Jim
Once you get beyond the hefty peak greens fees ($200+), this place is great. The only small complaint I have is the 9th hole, it's as though they only designed 17 holes and had to throw one more in at the end of construction. It is a short, boring par 3 which would be fine on most courses but not when compared to the other 17 holes here. All said, I loved this course.
Frank
I played Caledonia some years ago and this time I found out that this is a short, tough track. The greens were just awesome if you landed on a uphill putt, if not forget it.
Kristin
Caledonia is what golf should be: A test of one's all-around game played upon a beautifully manicured course that uses the natural surroundings as a backdrop. It's beauty is inside and out as the clubhouse offers a warm and inviting feeling. The staff was polite and courteous and the old plantation feeling of the lounge made it tough to leave. The only thing I would have changed that day was the weather (cold), but the true essence of Caledonia will warm my heart through the coldest of New England winters.
Atsushi
The only complaint was weather.
Brad
We play Caledonia every year. It is our favorite.
Robert
Great course. Helpful, personable staff.
Stu
Very beautiful but still quite wet from Tropical Storm Ida.
Wayne
Love the look and feel of this course.
David
My favorite.
John
One of the best-looking courses we have ever played in Myrtle Beach.
Kevin
Always a good choice. Professional staff but not too stuffy.
Robert
Enjoyed the course.
Ronald
The experience begins with the drive to the clubhouse. Beautiful scenery, glistening fairways, great challenge.
Vito
First-class all the way.
Bob
The condition of the greens was not as good as they have been in the past.
Art
Again, expected better. The greens had been aerated/sliced and the greens did not roll well.
Laird
We love Caldeonia and play it every year. The only complaint this year was the pace of play was awfully slow. The rangers could have done a better job of moving it along.
Ray
Great course that lives up to its rating.
Paul
The course was in great shape. The course is fair. Fairways were great where if you hit a good shot off the tee your ball sat up. It was just and enjoyable round of golf. The course wasn't over booked like some courses are, so you didn't feel you were on the clock on every shot. Wish more courses were set up this way.
Dennis
Course is overrated.
Brian
I enjoyed the fact that we felt like we were out there by ourselves and didn't have the neighborhood watching. Something to be said for the lack of homes on a course and that it makes playing much more enjoyable.
Robert
Great course; a must.
Amy
Beautifully groomed course!
Dan
Just a beautiful course. We played True Blue last year, so we knew what to expect. These both, in my opinion, are the best courses in Myrtle Beach.
Danita
There was no driving range to practice on, nor instructions to go to sister course beforehand.
Brent
The setting is amazing. Clubhouse is one of the best in MB. The course is tough but fair - a little short but the design more than makes up for it. Every hole was enjoyable. Condition was immaculate for late summer. Must play.
Walter
beautiful setting. Tee complexes accentuate scenery. 18th hole is wonderful and exemplifies the entire round. Courteous staff, but I loaded my own clubs.
Charles
One of my favorites. I try to play every time I'm in Myrtle Beach. Great layout, holes all have a different character. Eighteen is a great finishing hole.
John
Regardless of how long the course plays it's the nicest course, best layout, and best maintained course in Myrtle Beach. This should be considered a poor man's Augusta National.
Mike
One of the 10 best courses we have ever played. A fantastic day of golf. Quiet and peaceful setting. Deserving of its high rankings.
Bob
If you only get to play one course in Myrtle Beach, this is the one. The course is beautiful and is absolutely immaculate every time we play it.
Lawrence
Conditions did not warrant the cost.
Charles
I had heard so much about it and had played the other top courses in the area. Frankly for what I paid, I was very very disappointed. It was too short and too easy to be considered a great golf course. Beautiful setting, great job with style. Very nice people but average golf course. As I said way too short and too many very average holes. If I had paid what I did for moderate golf courses in the area, I would understand. I am afraid I don't get it.
Greg
Absolutely, the nicest course I have ever played. Well worth the few extra bucks.

Commented on December 15, 2008: Early or late sitting on the back porch and watching golfers coming into 18 and hitting over water to the green is a hoot. It use to be more fun because everyone got to cheering, clapping and raggin guys (gals) who dump it into tidal waters of the old plantation. It must have got out of hand ... or someone put 6 balls into the drink, got upset and complained. Should have hit a better shot. It is as much fun but still worth sitting on the porch having a little pop and betting on if someone hits the green or goes into the drink by looking at their practice swing.

Commented on December 10, 2008: I finally got to play Caledonia in January 2008, six years after driving down oak alley to hopefully catch a glimpse of a few holes. When you go play Caledonia, make sure you get their early to take it all in on the back porch.

Commented on December 15, 2008: Caledonia is a great piece of property, great finishing hole, if with a large group make sure you are one of the first out so you can heckle all those behind you! Willbrook is just as pretty/challenging for a LOT less $$$.

Played July 28, 2008: In our opinion, Caledonia is the very best course in the Myrtle Beach area! It is absolutely beautiful on every hole (except the par 3 number 9).
